What strikes me when reading her arguments was the fact that she seems to be insensible over the act of killing somebody. Indeed,I was dumbfounded when she said it was legitimate for a gang to slay another gang just because these people are different and because it is "how it is", a reasonable choice. The immaturity and unawareness of kids is appalling! They live in a world of violence which looks normal to them. However, they feel hatred, injustice. They know that what happened to their relatives is dreadful but they just don't know how to get out of this vicious circle of hate. Even the teenagers feel this hate, scorn other ethnic groups but they don't change their situation or maybe they do by killing.
Finally, I would say that society made Eva and her friends narrow-minded, stubborn up to a certain point they don't realise that if someone can change things, it's them. No matter how hard she pursuade herself that it is normal, you, Ms.Gruwell are here to prove the opposite and it works, slowly but surely! Your determination and willpower showed these youngsters that everything is possible in life, and that words can save them  in so many ways ! The idea of writting down all they thoughts, is a clever and creative concept. As they can transcribe what they've been and still are going through. Plus, throughout this process, the writing is a means of relief almost like a therapy means. It prevent them from violence and delinquency. All the diaries were poignant and honest. What it is the most interesting in these diaries is how raw and unformaly, kids denounce social issues inherently. Many issues are pointed out such as : gangs violence, discrimination, sexism, racism and many more. In fact, what I like the most in your work, is that the more they were writting and the more they were growing as mature and lucide teenagers, you well understant why they were acting in a such harsh and constaint derisive behavior ; because of their social backgrounds. They grew up in anguish, violence, blood and of course develop a sens of numbness hence their rough position. You must be thrill by this successful work !  I'm grateful that there is still people like you nowadays on this planet. By saying this I mean people who still care about others instead of themselves.
 Sincerely, I'm impressed by your determination in this aventure. I know that you started teaching as a student teacher and you didn't even know how it would be.
 Your idea of the cookbooks or diaries like you want, has been a huge success. And it's so impressive that you did helped your students by the simple way of writing. I think it's a beautiful experience and that you are an amazing person. Everyone can't actually do it, like you did.
 And the fact that you kind of sacrificed yourself by working in a few jobs, to earn more money for spending it for the class and her happiness... chock me a lot. I don't know if I could  do it by myself.
 So I really am impressed by you. And I'm really thankful for you helping people, just by being positive.
