Both of the groups did bad things like drink a lot of alcohol and steal things. The author, Susie, used a lot of her personal experiences for inspiration such as the drive-in movies. Susie wrote the book when she was only a junior in high school. Hinton,  is about S.E Hinton when she was a junior at Will Rodgers high school. She based the book upon her years as a high school student in the 60's. I know that one of the characters name is Johnny, as for the other names I have no clue. 1983, and 1967 were the years the book and the movie were made. Well, that is as far as that goes because I haven't seen the movie or read the book. They really didn't tell us (class) much about it. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. S.E. Hinton, at age 68, used the town she went to high school in to film the movie. For example, the high school she went to (Will Rodgers) is where the high school scenes were filmed in the movie. The drive-in scene, was filmed at the drive-in she went to.
