June 27th- Woof by Spencer Quinn--This is another Bluebonnet Award nominee, and it is one great read! Told from a dog's point of view, it is a hilarious look at how dogs think. Better, yet, this book takes you on a hunt to solve a very old mystery that involves hidden treasure! You should definitely check it out!

June 28th- I really enjoyed reading Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer by Kelly Jones. The main character is spunky, interesting, determined, & lovable, and the format, written only in letters & flyers makes it a quick & easy read. You will enjoy reading about a girl who suddenly finds herself far from the city she's known and now living on a farm with some chickens we will just say have some special talents. You have to read it for yourself. It's very funny, and, bonus, it's one of this year's Bluebonnet nominees.

June 29th- I've just finished another one of this year's Bluebonnet Award nominees, Lowriders in Space by Cathy Camper. This graphic novel is extremely creative and unique from the unusual characters to the amazing way these characters designed their lowrider. Kids who really like cars and those who love graphic novels, will find this book absolutely fascinating.

June 30th- Author Tomie dePaola is one of my favorites, so I just had to read one of CSES' newest Tomie dePaola books, Jack. It is a very cute picture book that would be perfect for early readers, preschool to first grade. The main character, Jack, sets off on a quest to see the king and along the way meets many various friends. This is a great family read-aloud.

July 1st- Based on a true story, the book, A Mom for Umande written by Maria Faulconer, is a heart-warming story about a baby gorilla who needs a mom & how the caring people at 2 different zoos worked hard to find him one. This one is just sweet!

July 2nd- I just finished reading one of the best biographies I've ever read. Hello, I'm Johnny Cash written by G. Neri is beautifully illustrated and written so beautifully, it almost reads likes the words to a song. Whether you are a fan of singer Johnny Cash or not, you will be inspired by the events of his life and his calling to share his music with the world.

July 3rd- The Three Ninja Pigs by Corey Rosen Schwartz is a fun take on the classic folktale, The Three Little Pigs. The rhyming text and addition of martial arts makes this book very appealing to kids! I think this would make an excellent read-aloud to kindergarteners & first graders and an entertaining book to read independently for all ages!
