1. Look at the title page for the chapter. What do you think the words and images foreshadow?  It foreshadows that the mice (known as the Jews) have been caught and punished (killed). 
2. Why does Spiegelman introduce us to his family by “panning” around the dining table for close-ups of each? What does this technique accomplish that a simple “mug shot” would not? This a good way to be more familiar with the family and also more appropriate than to just have an image with their information on it. This technique shows that it is respectful and the right way to introduce members. 
3. Why does Vladek lie to his family about the amount of money he makes from his under the table deals? What does this lie reveal about Vladek? Vladek lies about how much money he makes in table deals because he doesn't want Artie to know because it is something that he prefers to keep to himself.  Therefore, Vladek tells him that he makes nothing in table deals.  
4. What does Spiegelman include in the background of a panel on page 76/82 that tells us that the Germans gave the Poles incentives to expose the Jews? Spiegelman gives hints that can infer that what's upcoming will not be good. Such as informing the reader that "People still made money from secret business, not so legal." (Page 77). Also, the images from 76 to 82 show that the Jews were afraid of the Nazis and didn't stand much of a chance. 
5. When did Vladek first hear about Auschwitz, and what was his reaction when he did? Vladek heard about the Auschwitz in the early days, but he didn't believe what he had heard. 
6. Why is deciding whether or not to register at the stadium such a difficult choice for Vladek and his family. It is difficult for Vladek to decide whether to or not to register because it could be an easy way for the Nazis to target them. Either way, it is a risk that he/they are taking if they register.

1. Look at the title page for the chapter. What do you think the words and images foreshadow? This title page foreshadows the mice (Jews) suffering from cold, and having to hide in a mouse hole to keep themselves save from the Nazis. 
2. List 5 events from chapter 5. Explain their significance. 

1. Why does the Prisoner comic upset Vladek? The comic book "Prisoner on the Hell Planet" upsets Vladek because it has to do with his ex wife deaths, and also contains real human like information of the German killing spree that was going on at that time. 
2. Describe the events on pages 119-121. How does it make you feel? Do any of the panels on these pages shock or upset you? The German's threaten the Jews to give them what they asked for or else they would kill them.At this time, it shows little to no people left in the town of Auschwitz because the German's have swept up the place. Vladek and Miloch witness some Jews being thrown into a van by the Germans and taking them away. They continue to hide and hope not to get caught anytime soon. It is upsetting because I believe nobody should ever have so much control over another person, and most certainly threaten them to death if they don't obey their orders. 
3. How are Vladek and his family betrayed by other Jews in this chapter? Vladek and his family are betrayed by the other Jews because they help out a Jewish member who later on betrays them and informs the Germans of Vladek's hideout location. 
4. How does Spiegelman depict the crossroads Vladek and Anja come to? What does this image suggest? It shows that they are still fleeing from the Germans but the Germans are on their tail. Letting them know that whatever they do, they will not be able to save themselves from the Germans. I believe that this image suggest the bravery and perseverance to keep on fighting for their freedom even tough they were highly outnumbered and the consequence were very tough. 
5. Do you think Vladek’s comments about Mala are true? Why?

1. Look at the title page for the chapter. What do you think the words and images foreshadow? This title page infers that they are finally being caught. It seems to be that they were trapped since the name of the title is "Mouse trap" with an image of Vladek and Miloch on a mouse trap. Very creative!
2. List 5 events from chapter 6. Explain their significance. 1. Mala is hurt by Vladeks actions and believe that she is just a tool for him since she doesn't get the attention she deserves. This is important because Mala knows a lot about Vladek and his past life, switching up on Vladek could mean trouble for both parties. 2.  Vladek goes into town by riding in a German car, since nobody would suspect that a Jew would be in a German car because that's a high risk. It just shows the sacrifices that had to be made in order to not get caught and keep surviving. 3. Vladek gets taunted by a group that taunt him for being a Jew. However, Vladek is smart enough to get off the hook by speaking the German language and praising Hitler. A smart move by Vladek in order to maintain his hope alive 4. Vladek and Anja gets caught where Vladek had his old factory. Then they are taken in a camp where they get separated. All their sacrifice has come to an end and the German are in control of them. 6. Back to present time, Artie asks his dad about his mother notebooks, but his dad informs him that they have been destroyed by him. Artie loses his cool because he believed that the diaries were the only hope of him being able to know his mom a bit more. This shows that Vladek decided to tear the diaries because he didn't want to remember the pain that was caused by his wife death.
3. What is Artie’s dilemma at the beginning of the chapter? Artie's dilemma at the beginning of the chapter is that Mala seems to be tired of dealing with Vladek. She assumes that he doesn't love her and is only with her because she does all the chores around the house. He doesn't treat her like she deserves and believes that she should be treated better since they have a relationship. 
4. How is Anti-Semitism being passed down generation by generation? The Jews are not viewed the same since they have a bad past. With that being said, others feel like they have the right to take advantage of them and hostile them as time goes on. 
5. What does Artie call Vladek when he finds out about Anja’s diaries? Why does he use such a strong word? Do you agree with Artie? Artie called Vladek a "Murderer" because his dad destroys the diaries that his mother had. Artie is hurt by his father's actions because now he will never be able to know how his mother was because the diaries that she wrote were destroyed by his dad. At the moment, i would agree with Artie, but after cooling down and settling in, then i probably would just have a talk with Vladek.
