During the 1920s the 18th Amendment was passed to ban alcohol in some states. Because alcohol was now banned people started bootlegging wich is the illegal selling and consuming of alcohol. In New York 75% of the state's revenue came from the alcohol industry but as soon as it was banned it was instantly lost. in Chicago and Philidelphia gang violence was a big problem and gang wars.

Duke Ellington: One of the songs I found by Duke Ellington was "Take The A Train". His importance to music in the 1920's was being one of the greatest jazz composers of all time and creating music that later led to other forms of jazz.

Louis Armstrong: A song I found by Louis Armstrong was "What A Wonderful World". Armstrong was a very important musician in the 1920's because of how he helped develop jazz into an important music genre. He was also known for changing jazz into a soloist genre instead of a group.

The Red Scare was a mixture of fear of communism and anarchists and socialists. the reason the Red Scare started was because as people immigrated from Russia the U.S. citizens feared that they would try to overthrow the government. During November 1919 and January 1920, a series of raids called the Palmer Raids occurred where the DOJ would go out and capture/arrest people who were said to be communist socialists or anarchists. Two men known as Sacco and Vanzetti were accused of robbery and murder because they showed socialist ideology there wasn't much evidence used against them except for the fact that they were Italian immigrants and they didn't enlist for the war. This case still serves a purpose today bu making sure people have a fair and honest jury and fair trials.

Some examples of racial tension in the 1920's was racial intolerance, the rise of the KKK, immigration, jim crow laws, and the red summer of 1919. Racial intolerance was based on how 75% of all African Americans lived in the South. The rise of the KKK influenced violent acts against African Americans and even had campaigns against them. Immigration was a big part too because the 1920's was a surge of people coming from Eastern and Southern Europe. Jim Crow Laws which stated blacks and whites need to live seperate lives. And finally the Red Summer of 1919 which was racial violence through out the whole US.
