Growing up in a southern household, I was unaware of white privilege. As I have grown, I have learned and become more aware of white privilege and how prevalent it is. It is essential to realize how white privilege influences a white person's life and how others of different cultures do not receive the same treatment.

I often think about how my socio-economic status has affected me personally and professionally. Your socio-economic status impacts your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Throughout my college career, I have learned how your socio-economic status directly effects you. Findings from this study suggest that social class plays a multifaceted role in the job search process and warrants more attention within this and other areas of organizational research. Socio-economic status is a major area of bias and discrimination.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5901394/

I used to think being an introvert was a disadvantage of mine. However, over the years I have tried to embrace my authentic self. I am aware that being and SLP and an introvert is kind of counterintuitive. Being an introvert has many advantages as discussed in the article. Some benefits of being an introvert that will transfer to being an effective SLP include listening with intention, attention to detail, and building substantive relationships.
