What is Belzec?

Belzec is one of the first three killing centers in Operation Reinhard. Located in Poland, this camp murdered more than 2 million Jewish people during the Holocaust. Knowing its a killing center many people tired to escape.

Rudolf Reder

Rudolf Reder was one of many people who escaped the Belzec death camp. One day the camp needed a sheet of metal and Rudolf went with a soldier. They loaded it in the truck and they went off. Rudolf knew it was a good time to escape so when the soldier was dozing off he slipped his way out of the truck. He was on a dark highway and he ran away from the truck. He later took shelter with a Polish woman. "I heard the doors being shut; I heard shrieks and cries"

Haïm Hirszman

Haïm Hirszman escaped the camp by train. The soldiers took Haïm to a train he left without the soldiers noticing. In his life he murder 29 Germans for his survival. Later he was awarded the Grunwald Cross. "There were not six million Jews murdered; there was one murder, six million times."

Dismantled of Belzec

Between December 1942 and the Spring of 1943 the death camp was dismantled and wasn't used ever again. Belzec murdered more than 2 million Jewish people before it was dismantled.

The Belzec death camp was behind Auschwitz with most Jewish killed. In the 6 million jewish deaths Belzec had 2 million of the kills. Belzec was located in Poland being ran by Nazi Germany. Poland is where most of the Jewish people were killed.
