"We bring the f***ing rain, Q. Not scattered showers," (Green 49). This quote is an example of a metaphor said by Margo Roth Speiglman. A metaphor is a hidden comparison between two items. In this metaphor bringing the rain is used to represent bringing violence or justice.

"The great white wall of cow," (Green 267). This quote uses the literary device imagery, imagery is defined as representing objects by appealing to the readers physical senses. This is used by Green to help create a picture in our mind about the crash.

"The mouth open in a way that mouths generally shouldn't be...close enough now to reach out and touch his foot," (Green 5). In this quote Green has used a flashback which is defined as an interruption in a chronological sequence. Green uses this literary device so that the readers can see the difference between kid Margo and kid Quentin to now, when they are teens.l

" 'It's a paper town, " (Green 57). Foreshadowing is used in this quote, foreshadowing is when the author gives clues to the reader about what might happen later in the book.

"There were several quotes highlighted in blue, all from the epically long poem known as 'Song of Myself'" (Green 116). Within in this quote an allusion is used. An allusion is a reference to a person, or thing that has significance. In this example a piece of literature is being used as the allusion.

One important motif that is referenced throughout the book is strings. Many strings are referenced throughout the book including the balloon strings mentioned by the detective. Another being the strings that hold paper girls together, referring to Margo. The strings are first mentioned when talking about the dead guy Margo and Quentin found in the park as kids. They are also mentioned on the last page when Quentin refers to both Margo and him as broken stringed instruments.

One symbol that is mentioned in the novel is the minivan. The van is thought of as a house on the 23 hour trip, "The minivan has become a kind of very small house," (Green 259). The van has everything, a kitchen, a living room, and office, and two bedrooms. Though small it has everything that Quentin needs to make his home. His friends are all he needs. Which is where him and Margo differ, Quentin needs his friends and Margo want to be on her own.

The first picture I choose is the puppet who's strings are being cut. The puppet reminded me of Margo considering she had said her strings broke just like the puppets are about to. The second picture is a scene from the movie based on the book. It helps you realize how much of a home the van had become to the kids.

Top 10 Most Important Moments

1.) When Quentin and Margo are little kids they found the body of suicide victim Robert Joyner.

2.) Margo shows up at Q's window in the middle of the night wanting him to come help her get revenge on the people who have wronged her.

3.) Margo and Q are on top of the SunTrust building when Margo says "every paper girl needs at least one string," (Green 58) classifying herself as a paper girl in the paper town Orlando.

4.) Margo leaves after the night of revenge leaving many mysteries for Q to unfold so she can be found.

5.) Quentin begins to look for clues as to where she has gone, since she spent her last night in Orlando with him.

6.) Quentin finds all the clues and locates where she is. Algoe, New York a fictional place that also exists.

7.) Ben, Radar, Lacey, and Quentin all ditch there graduation to help Q get to New York to find Margo

8.) During this 23 hour journey there are some bumps in the road, well cows actually, making the group wonder if this is all worth it.

9.) Though it was difficult the group finds Margo only to be rewarded with disrespect and hostility. Margo reveals that she didn't want to be found.

10.) After the long journey the group stays for a day. Margo and Q get to talk alone and Quentin realizes he won't be getting her back to Orlando; that they will be parting ways in the fictional town of Algoe, New York.

I choose to include the top ten most important moments because it makes the book easier to understand and gets rid of the fluff. I included these items because they all affect either the characters or the plot of the story without them the book would have changed completely. Without the events on this list the book would have been completely different.

The picture I choose is a scene from the movie. Also number 3 on the list. I choose this scene because it is where Margo reveals her true feeling to Quentin. Within in this scene Margo and Quentin become a little closer.
