Like Danae, Antigone is imprisoned. However, fate intervened and Danae ended up still doing what was prophesized. This could be foreshadowing that everything that happens from this point on happens because it is supposed to; you cannot escape destiny.

King Lycurgus relates to how Antigone is being punished for not following Creon and burying her brother. Lycurgus was killed for worshipping Dionysus and not following what his father thought just as Antigone. They were both prideful and knew what they were doing was the right decision, no matter the consequences. Both of them suffered terrible deaths for what they believed in.

Creon imprisons his son's first wife, Antigone, much like Phineas imprisons his first wife. Creon's kingship and newfound power blinds him to the fact that his kingdom is only following and supporting him in fear. The passage reads that Phineas' sons cry for revenge. This could foreshadow Creon's kingdom crying for revenge after Creon banishes Antigone to a stone cell to die a slow, lonely death.

Creon goes against the gods by refusing to honor the dead Polyneices. His pride and god complex will be his downfall much like King Phineus. King Phineus married a woman and imprisioned his wife who was the daughter of the north wind. This angered the gods and they made his new wife gouge out his children's eyes.
