The art which we saw on today's classes is totally different than made by Kent Monkman, these ones are fighting with the stereotypes which have settlers or tourists about the Native people.

In my opinion the art is the perfect tool to struggle with anything we want to show or we don't agree with, it's to attract attention as something painted is easier to analyze and understand than for example text. However nowadays people don't pay attention to the art like in the past, so now the artists need to use more powerful tool to reach the audience, which is Internet and social media, where can post their beautiful and striking art.

We, as ordinary individuals, can fight with the stereotypes by education and research. I think the best one is visit the persons about whom we have stereotype and talk with them to get them better. If we can't do it, we should check if in our city or near us is cultural centre where we can receive reliable information as not always on Internet we find the true one. Also, the cultural centres can help us to ensure that we're interacting with authentic Indigenous voices but if we have doubts, the good way is to contact with the colleges or universities which have Indigenous Faculty or department and are in touch with the First Nations.

Continuing education on the adverse effects of stereotypes and prejudices can lead to very dangerous results.
For example, telling or teaching someone distorted information or overly biased ideas will probably cause the truth to change.
Art reveals the historical facts of a country. And it also shows the heartbreaking story of a country, the same picture but a distorted culture in a different way.
If we understand the meaning of it through false stereotypes and prejudices, we will not know its true meaning.
As such, in order to know the true meaning of art painting, we need more attention, education, and research on it, and it will be even more so when we understand the history of indigenous peoples through painting.

Try to have a different perspective! 

Personally, I agree that art is a power medium to fight stereotypes.  Above all, most artists have a different perspective on objects, facts, and matters concerned and appeal their focal points to the public. Likewise, if ordinary people also try to look any matters with a different angle, they can beat stereotypes. For example, we are easily dragged by majority and group in making decision and judging something. Instead of following the group, if people pay attention to an individual person, thing, matter, different perspective will be established.  I think that we can ensure that we are exposed to real Indigenous voices by joining their social media and appreciating their arts.  If we meet Indigenous peoples in person and share their culture and current issues, it will be ideal interaction with them.

Personally, I believe that art is a powerful tool for combating stereotypes. Above all, most artists have a unique perspective on the things, facts, and issues at hand, and they use their focus points to appeal to the general public. Similarly, regular people can overcome preconceptions if they strive to look at any situation from a fresh perspective. Attending historical books, movies on the history of indigenous peoples, and seminars hosted by indigenous peoples to discover the genuine history of them as they speak is an excellent approach to understand indigenous peoples' art paintings. 

We, as common citizens, can combat stereotypes through education and study. The greatest option, in my opinion, is to go see the people about whom we have stereotypes and talk with them to get to know them better. If we are unable to do so, we should investigate whether there is a cultural centre in our city or nearby where we can obtain credible information, as we can not always discover accurate information on the Internet. Furthermore, cultural centres can assist us in ensuring that we are dealing with legitimate Indigenous voices; but, if we have any doubts, we should contact colleges or universities that have Indigenous faculty or departments and are in communication with the First Nations.

In my opinion, art is an effective tool in fighting stereotypes because it does it subtly. Paintings, drawings and sculptures  trigger viewer's thoughts to envision what the artist wants to communicate. This way the artist subconsciously plants his/her opinions in the viewer's mind which changes perspectives. Slowly but surely art changes stereotypes. 

Also, as ordinary citizens, we must learn the true meaning behind the art and do our best to propagate the true meaning with our most reliable source, social media. Furthermore, we can donate to these artists so that more art fighting stereotypes will be made. This will cause more people to come into contact with them.
 
One way we can ensure that we are interacting with authentic Indigenous voices is by checking their background, for instance, we can check their social media presence.

From what I have seen from the past modules, I can concur that artworks do an excellent job in combating stereotypes, regardless of whether they are good or bad. We can fight against stereotypes as ordinary citizens by promoting actual artists that are trying to combat stereotypes with art. However, as ordinary citizens, we could help break the walls of stereotypes by letting other ordinary citizens learn and reflect upon the challenges the Indigenous face. Before studying this week's module, I hadn't even thought about how art could help change all those wrong ideas we built over the years, but after seeing all these works and the impact they have generated on me, not because I believed the opposite of the images but because of the way they lead us to see the world, a real world drawn on a canvas. I definitely think that it is very effective to use art as a tool to eradicate stereotypes and I think we have the task of disseminating this type of work to reach more people, this is a way of creating awareness in people without filling them with so much information. For example, I think that sharing this type of art on my social networks could help many more people become concerned and become interested in learning about the history and reality of these indigenous communities and once and for all stop thinking that they are just savage communities. 

I think that now with access to the internet, there are many ways through which we can ensure that we are exposed to authentic voices of Indigenous people and that is by checking their profiles on social networks because there is information there that can help us verify what we want to know. And additionally, we can check the content they share since an authentic Indigenous person would never publish information against their communities and less than what they identify with.

It helps portray an image for us to see right away instead of having to imagine one for ourselves by reading an article or hearing a podcast about stereotypes. Sometimes words can go right past us and it is easily dismissed due to the nature of our short attention spans. Through art, not only it is captivating through the colors used, shapes, and mediums, it also allows us to trigger our creativity to interpret the artwork from our perspective. Through this, we can understand the intentions that the artists portray in our ways, which in turn makes it more memorable.

For us to fight against stereotypes, we need to be active in learning about them in the first place. Sitting idle and doing nothing certainly doesn't bring about change. We must act by sharing information, educating those around and close to us, and standing for what is right. Art has a major impact in fighting stereotypes. Many artists use their work to bring attention to a variety of issues, especially when it comes to representation. Individuals can gain a better understanding of the reality of having to envision themselves by viewing artwork, attending a theatre performance, or even listening to music. Many artists, in my opinion, have already begun their fight against stereotyping, and it is effective in providing so much detailed information for people to understand that stereotyping must cease, as well as spreading awareness about how to prevent and stop stereotyping through their artwork. I can contribute to the fight against stereotyping by reminding people that we are all created equal and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. It's like a word of mouth on how to continue humanity in this world.
