Romeo is one of the main characters of Shakespeare's play, ¨Romeo and Juliet." In the play he is Juliet Capulet´s star crossed lover. Romeo is young, almost an adult; he is around 16-17 year old. He is described as very well looking from Juliet. Romeo is from the family of Montague. In the play, the Montague family does not like the Capulet family. In his family there is his parents; Lord and Lady Montague, and his cousin who he is very close with, Benvolio. Another good friend friend of Romeo is Mercutio. Romeo has a roller coaster of emotions through the play and in the end those emotions lead him to kill himself for love.

Romeo does not take any action by himself independently. He refuses to do anything because he is so distraught from being heart broken. But his friends convince him to go to the Capulet's ball. Romeo's sulky attitude can be seen in the text, "You have dancing shoes with nimble soles; I have a soul of lead so stakes me to the ground I cannot move" (1.4.15-16). Romeo is saying how he cannot dance so he shouldn't go to the ball. Romeo trying to give reasons not to go can also be seen in the quote, "I fear, too early; for my mind misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars, shall bitterly begin his fearful date..." (1.4.106-108). Romeo in that quotes is saying how he feels that something bad will come from it if they decide to go to the ball. However, that does not happen, the complete opposite does happen. At the ball Romeo meets Juliet and falls in love, no longer being depressed. Romeo's actions had an effect on Juliet and Tybalt too. Juliet was very cheerful because she met Romeo and also fell in love. Although, that was not the case for Tybalt he was very angered by the Montague presence at the Capulet's ball.

Romeo after just meeting and quickly falling in love with Juliet makes the impulsive decision to get married to her. It was impulsive because they only knew each other for a few days. Romeo and Juliet also decided to keep this wedding a secret from their families because they would not support. This can be seen in the text, "So smile the heavens upon this holy act that after-hours with sorrow chide us not!" (2.6.1-2). Also in the quote, "For, by your leaves, you shall not stay done till Holy Church incorporate two in one" (2.6.36-37). Both Romeo and Juliet were happy in the moment but later it caused stress. Romeo does not want troubles with Juliet's family member, Tybalt but Romeo ends up killing him. Juliet is very upset when she finds Tybalt dies.

In this photo Romeo and Juliet are holding hands while kissing outside in the dark. This photo is from the 1968 classic film of Romeo and Juliet. I chose this photo because it conveys the passion they feel for each other. The photo relates to Romeo because it shows the love he has developed for Juliet. The passion can be seen in the text, "Unfold the imagined happiness that both receive in either by this dear encounter" (2.6.28-29). This quote shows the happiness that both will feel for each other.

As a result of Romeo thinking Juliet is dead, he goes and buys poison from a pharmacist. The poison is a deadly poison that will kill Romeo instantly. Romeo is so distraught by the supposedly death of Juliet that he decides to kill himself too. This can be seen in the text, 'Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight" (5.1.35). Romeo in that quote bluntly states that he plans to join Juliet in death. It can also be seen through the quote, "A dateless bargain to engrossing death" (5.3.115). As a result of taking his life, Romeo is no longer living and able to do anything. Although, Romeo's death has no effect on him it does have an effect on Juliet and his mother. They both die in affect to Romeo's actions. Lady Montague and Juliet were overwhelmed with his death that they too died.

To summarize Romeo through out the play he is very emotional and he was very impulsive. He had a variety of different emotions through out the play. Romeo's emotions were a roller coaster going down, up, and then down again. He was down in the beginning because of his break up with Rosalind; then his emotions weren't down because he met Juliet. In the end, his emotions were down due to the fact that he was so upset because he thought Juliet was dead. When Romeo was feeling down in the end is a great example of his impulsive actions. He thought Juliet was dead so impulsively he killed himself too. That was the largest consequence of his emotions, his death. If he kept his emotions more in check he wouldn't had killed himself. From Romeo's wrong, impulsive behavior anyone can learn it is better to think through your emotions and to take a step back, rather than to act too quickly.

I chose the song, "Last Kiss" by Taylor Swift to help convey how Romeo was feeling in the end of the play. The song is about missing your lover and remembering the last time of everything, specifically the kiss. This show reflects Romeo's emotions when he saw Juliet supposedly dead, and kissed her for the last time. The quote, "Let's see for means" said by Romeo shows how Romeo misses Juliet and wants to be with her (5.1.35).
