Hello and welcome! I’m so excited to have you join us this year. My name is Ms. Evelyn Parker and I’ll be one of your teachers. Together, we’ll explore new ideas, challenge ourselves, and create an environment where everyone feels supported and motivated to succeed.

I believe learning is a journey, and it’s not just about what you know—it’s about how you grow. This classroom is a place where we value creativity, curiosity, and the unique strengths each of you brings. My goal is to make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful. We’ll work hard, but we’ll also celebrate every step forward, no matter how big or small.

In this book, the author uses rhyming text and colorful illustrations to introduce various aspects of first grade—things like meeting new friends, learning new subjects, and discovering what the classroom will be like. The tone is upbeat and encouraging, with the idea of making first grade feel less intimidating and more fun. It's designed to prepare and reassure kids who may be nervous or excited about the big change.

The author states "If you don't know why someone's doing something, just ask them. Don't assume the worst in people."

I want to go ahead and introduce myself and talk a little bit about who I am. My name is Yosery Merced, I am from Springfield, Massachusetts. I am a Westfield State University alumni, currently working on my masters degree in education. I have always loved education and educating others. I have a big passion for teaching children all they have a fundamental right learn and what they need to be productive adults. I am a huge advocate for my students and their families. Outside of work I love spending time with family and friends. Going on adventures and trying new things is something I always aspire to do.

When I’m not in the classroom, I love to crochet, cook, and do crafts. I enjoy finding creative projects to bring into the classroom and sharing my love for hands-on learning with my students.

In our classroom, I believe in building a strong sense of family and community. I want every student to feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. I look forward to getting to know each of you and working together to make this a wonderful school year full of growth, fun, and discovery!

I want to introduce everyone to our class dojo. A communication platform and app that connects teachers, students, and parents in schools. It will helps us manage their classrooms, share information with families, and create student portfolios.

The narrative encourages kids to not be afraid of getting dirty, showing that nature is a playground full of adventure and learning opportunities. It’s a fun, playful story that teaches children to appreciate the environment and the simple pleasures of being outdoors.

As technological advances continue to expand into our classroom and daily lives our students should be aware of how to use them appropriately. Technology in our classroom will be used as a fun educational resource for both students to learn from and families to keep direct communication with myself, our current classroom activities, and students progress. This will help in increasing students' learning capability by keeping them engaged with current technology they are interested in, while also teaching them safe and responsible ways of how to use them.

In our classroom, I focus on making learning fun and hands-on. I want students to explore new ideas, ask questions, and be creative. I also believe in teaching the whole child, helping them grow not only academically but also socially and emotionally.

Technology plays an important role in our classroom by enhancing learning and helping students develop essential 21st-century skills. I use technology to create interactive, engaging lessons that meet different learning styles. It allows students to collaborate, research, and express their ideas in creative ways. I also teach students how to use technology responsibly and thoughtfully, preparing them to navigate the digital world safely and effectively.

I am committed to building strong relationships with my students and their families, working together to make sure each child has what they need to succeed. I’m excited to watch my students grow, learn, and become confident, caring individuals.

I am open to trying new approaches, tools, and technologies that enhance the learning experience and foster a positive classroom environment.my teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that all students are capable of achieving success when provided with a supportive, engaging, and challenging learning environment. By fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning, I hope to empower my students to become not only knowledgeable individuals but also thoughtful, compassionate, and active contributors to society.I also believe that technology encourages student autonomy and responsibility. By utilizing educational apps, online assessments, and collaborative tools, students have the opportunity to take charge of their learning, track their progress, and receive immediate feedback. Furthermore, technology supports differentiated instruction, enabling me to tailor resources and activities to meet the specific needs of each student, ensuring that no one is left behind.

However, I also understand the importance of balancing technology with face-to-face interactions and hands-on learning experiences. While digital tools offer great advantages, they should complement, rather than replace, traditional learning methods. My approach involves using technology to foster creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, empowering students to be not only consumers of information but also creators and innovators in a digital world.By embracing technology in the classroom, I strive to prepare my students for success in both the academic and professional spheres, while fostering a sense of responsibility and ethical use of digital resources.

Students will learn about weather by exploring different weather conditions and how they change over time using engaging, interactive resources from PBS Kids. Through hands-on activities, videos, and discussions, students will develop an understanding of how weather affects their daily lives and the environment. This lesson wil help student understand weather conditons as well as better identify them in there day to day lifes.
