The passage is important as it shows the division of the modern world, that its impossible to say which one is most right to the point that its impossible to say which sect the founders of each religion would belong to. It is due to this division that Earthseed must rise up to unite humanity. In this sense it offers the theme that humanity has become caught up in meaningless divisions. It supports this that despite all these religions following the teachings of either Christ or Buddha, they have divided themselves and historically much animosity has arisen between the groups despite this fundamental similarity.

This passage is important because it discusses what Earthseed is all about. A theme that it offers about the concept of change is that you must change/adapt in order to go on with your life. the most significant device that develops this is allusion because it is compared to other religions like buddhism where you can take it as it is and shape your own god.

a. This passage is very important because it provides us a lot of insight on to how Bankole and Lauren interact. It is really the first time we have seen someone critique Earthseed.

b. A theme this passage offers about a concept is change is all around us in life and it is pretty much impossible to avoid.

c. The most significant device that develops this theme is dialogue. Most of the information we get is from Lauren and Bankole talking. Them talking shows us feelings and thoughts of those characters.

d. This device supports the theme by Bankole explaining to Lauren how if Earthseed becomes more public, it is inevitable that it changes.

This passage is important because it shows that even in this very messed up society, people become much more comfortable with a group when there’s children in a group. This shows a theme of both danger and innocence. A device that supports the theme is imagery, which in the passage vividly describes the change in emotion when people see the children in Lauren’s group.

this is important because we get to understand more of allie and jill’s background. It offers the concept of identity. this is because when we first met the girls, we didn’t know what past they had or if they were even trust worthy. this passage reveals allie’s dead child and their “nightmares”. the child justin is a symbol of hope for allie since he helps fill the void of her dead child.
