      <link>https://padlet.com/montheik/83g4e04wrn1gefd7</link>
<description>Within the central and eastern United States, the number of earthquakes has increased dramatically over the past few years. Are they natural, or man-made? And what should be done in the future? Read about current research on induced earthquakes due to human activities here: https://tinyurl.com/mrx9a79p . Once you have finished your research share 3 things you learned,
2 interesting facts, and
1 question you still have.
+3 points extra credit for correctly answering someone else’s question! The first person and only the first person to answer someone else’s question by commenting on it receives the extra credit points.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you include your name in your post and comments so that you get full points on the assignment!

<title>Disposal of waste fluids that are a byproduct of oil production is the primary cause of the recent increase in earthquakes. building construction, carbon capture and storage, nuclear explosions, geothermal operations and research experiments that test fault stress can all cause induced earthquakes. About 25 induced earthquakes occur per year. - Drew Heimsoth</title>

<title>Some interesting facts about induced earthquakes are that Induced seismicity can occur at significant distances from injection wells and at different depths. Earthquakes can be induced at distances of 10 miles or more away from the injection point and at significantly greater depths than the injection point. And Wells not requiring surface pressure to inject wastewater can still induce earthquakes. - Drew Heimsoth</title>
