Provide a “viewing prompt” or sentence stem before showing a short video clip. The same can be done with a “reading prompt” before they read. Use sentnece stems to facilitate conversations and get students to speak using complete sentneces. Students can share their writing or inferences and receive feedback from peers. I use this format for two reasons - 1) my students are accountable to physically write something for both think and pair and 2) I’m accountable for actually giving the students the TPS!
