         <description><![CDATA[<p>The International Dyslexia Association provides many tips for parents of children with Dyslexia. The activities they provide are simple things that can be performed at home. These include having your child read aloud, playing games that involve spelling, or using objects around the house to create words and spell them out. These are some of the various activities parents can use to help their child succeed with Dyslexia. The association also provides many reading tips, words of encouragement, and how to stay organized. Overall, they provide many helpful forms of advice that will keep your child engaged.  </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Dyslexia is a learning disability that causes people to have difficulty reading, writing, and spelling. Dyslexia can occur in people of all different backgrounds and intellectual levels. While it may be difficult at first for anybody to overcome Dyslexia, there are many resources that can help your child be successful and continuously encourage their desire to learn. </p><p><br></p><p>What are the signs of Dyslexia? </p><ul><li><p>Difficulty understanding what is heard</p></li><li><p>Having trouble seeing similarities and differences in letters and words</p></li><li><p>Avoiding activities that involve reading </p></li><li><p>Reading below the expected level for their age</p></li></ul><p><br></p><p>Being able to read and write are important skills for children to master so they are able to express themselves through their language and culture. There are many programs and organizations that can help your child conquer this obstacle and display their literacy knowledge. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Take Flight is a comprehensive intervention for students with Dyslexia. Through this program, students will learn all 44 sounds of the English language, 96 letter – sound correspondence rules and 87 affixes. The student will also be learning the spelling rules for base words and derivatives. The program takes place for 45 minutes a day, 5 days per week. Through Take Flight, your child will improve their reading, writing, and pronunciation skills, which will help them express their culture through literacy. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key research findings on <em>Take Flight</em> include:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Students who complete <em>Take Flight</em> instruction show significant growth in all areas of reading skill.</p></li><li><p>Follow-up research with children who completed treatment indicates that students maintain the benefits of instruction on word reading skills and continue to improve in reading comprehension.</p></li><li><p><em>Take Flight</em> is effective when used in schools by therapists with advanced training in remediation of students with dyslexia.</p></li><li><p>Students with the lowest reading skills acquire the strongest gains from <em>Take Flight</em> instruction.</p></li></ul><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <title>Advocacy Organization</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity advocates for children and adults with Dyslexia. They also provide many tools and resources for parents so they can help their children succeed. They also advocate for policies and programs that ensure individuals with dyslexia are diagnosed at an early age and receive the accommodations necessary to reach their full potential in school and throughout their lives. This organization provides countless forms of support that can help your child receive the help they need. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>YCDC advocates for:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Widespread screening and diagnosis of dyslexia in all schools, particularly in low- and middle-income communities where parents can’t afford expensive testing and tutoring for their children. Such measures are currently all but nonexistent in public schools.</p></li><li><p>Teacher education programs that provide training in identifying and supporting dyslexic students.</p></li><li><p>Consistent use of the word dyslexia when identifying and supporting those with the disability. Many school districts resist naming dyslexia as a specific disability, making it harder to identify and help dyslexic kids.</p></li></ul>]]></description>

The foundation supplies countless apps and websites to help with Dyslexia such as text-to-speech, audio books, organization systems, and more. </p>]]></description>
