Day of the Dead

I chose this picture because it shows a scene from the Day of the Dead, which is the most important festival in Mexico. I first learned about this festival from the movie Coco. On the Day of the Dead, people set up private altars with sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods of their deceased loved ones. They then bring these items to the cemetery to honor and remember the dead. The Day of the Dead in Mexico is different from how death is observed in other parts of the world. Instead of somber mourning, they have celebrations filled with singing and dancing. This makes me feel that "death is not the end of life; forgetting is." I hope I can have the opportunity to travel to Mexico during the Day of the Dead and experience the festive atmosphere.

Although I am an introvert, I am still attracted to the songs and dances of the Mexican people. During the Day of the Dead, they parade through the streets in traditional costumes with their faces painted like skulls. These movie-like scenes unfold on the streets of Mexico, with people from all over the world cheering and sharing the joy. If I have the chance, I hope to experience such a passionate adventure myself. I believe this festival might help me express myself more freely and discover a new side of who I am.

What else attracts me a lot is their architecture. Mexican architecture, whether it’s churches or homes, whether it’s the exterior walls or interior decorations, is filled with vibrant colors. Especially on sunny days, the colors of the buildings become even more saturated under the sunlight, creating a beauty that’s hard to look away from. The famous city Guanajuato--a heritage city where God spilled the spice rack, is one of the destinations I want to visit. The city scene is very different from my hometown, it gives me a strong sense of vibrant energy. In conclusion, Mexico is truly a destination I really want to visit.
