         <description><![CDATA[<div>My overall goal for the 4-day boot camp is finish writing the chapter 2 of my thesis: traffic state estimation from non-lagged Bluetooth measurements. It can be break into the following tasks:<br><br><del>1. Define lag associated with travel time measurements. (1 hr)<br>2. Describe the traffic states around Bluetooth detector can alleviate lag issue, use a plot to explain shock wave. (1hr)<br>3. Literature review for non-lagged measurements</del><br><em><del>Define the non-lagged measurements from Bluetooth (1hr)</del></em><br>4. Describe the Bluetooth detection process, and formulate the detection probability. (3 hr)<br>5. Propose two strategies to aggregate non-lagged measurements including 1) using average from most recent N valid MACs and 2)use the average of valid MAC detection for each interval and interpolate intervals without detection with information from most recent intervals. (4 hr)<br>6. Describe simulation tools and simulation setting (2 hr)<br>7. Aggregate simulation data set for the proposed 2 strategy under different LMP rate. (8 hr)<br>8. Describe two algorithms that can establish the relationship between non-lagged measurements and traffic stream speeds. Including linear regression and random forest model and kNN? RF can provide the variable importance. Besides, the formulation of the problem should provide insights too. (8 hr)<br>9. Define feature selection method for linear model, rf, and knn? (6 hr)<br>10. Summarize the performance of the two estimation algorithms for different scenarios, make recommendations for choice of estimation method and strategy. (10 hr)<br><br>A total of 44 hours of work is needed to complete all the above tasks in order finishing this chapter, I marked the number of hours needed for each task at the end within a parenthesis.<br><br>Goals for <strong>DEC 19</strong> is write 500~700 words, and finish task 1, 2, 3 and 4.<br><strong>Daily reflection</strong>: I wrote 645 words, and fished above tasks 1 and 2, partially finished task 3<br><br>Goal for <strong>DEC 20</strong> is write 600 words, detailed goals include:<br><del>finish literature review for non-lagged measurements<br>Task 3</del><br>Task 4<br><strong>Daily reflection</strong>: I wrote 390 words yesterday. As always, I underestimated the amount of time needed to complete tasks. In the case of DEC 20th, I only started task 4 instead of finishing it. Today's goal is complete task 4, and task 5. <br><br>Goal for <strong>DEC 21 </strong>is write 400 words, detailed goals include completing:<br><del>Task 4</del><br>Task 5<br><br>Goal for <strong>DEC 22 </strong>is write 450 words, detailed goals include completing <br>Task 5<br>Task 6<br><strong>Daily reflection</strong>: I wrote only 106 words yesterday, because I worked on a project related form for the entire afternoon. I shall try to catch up on my progress today!</div>]]></description>
