         <description><![CDATA[<p>Air quality- 47</p><p>PM-2.5</p><p>Ozone-37</p><ul><li><p>125 million people live in counties with unhealthy ozone (4/10)</p></li><li><p>Air pollution is responsible for 6 million premature heart attacks worldwide</p></li><li><p>Air pollution costs roughly 3% of its GDP</p></li><li><p>21 million people live with particle pollution year round</p></li><li><p>Nearly seven million deaths occur globally each year due to indoor and outdoor air pollution, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).</p></li><li><p>99% of people worldwide currently breathe air that exceeds the WHO's guideline limits for pollutants, with those in low- and middle-income countries being the most affected.</p></li><li><p>The 2020 State of Global Air report states that in 2019, 4.5 million deaths were linked to outdoor air pollution exposures, while another 2.2 million deaths were caused by indoor air pollution.</p></li><li><p>A report from Harvard's T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2020 showed a correlation between long-term exposure to air pollution, especially particulate matter pollution, and higher COVID-19 mortality rates.</p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1-people of color are <strong>1.5 times</strong> more likely to live in an area with poor air quality than white people, according to our 2020 “State of the Air” report.</p><p>2-the practice of denying people access to credit because of where they live, even if they are personally qualified for loans. Neighborhoods subject too redlining are more likely to be exposed too pollution.</p><p>3-Environmental racism is a type of inequality where <strong>p</strong>eople in Communities of Color face a disproportionate risk of exposure to pollution and related health conditions</p><p>4-wear a mask outside, purify your air, keep windows closed, spend less time in places with toxic air.</p><p>5- Neighborhoods with black people have higher pollution. We should allocate more funds to address the issue and bring more attention to the matter.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1-one in eight childhood asthma cases are caused by gas stoves</p><p>2-</p><p>-Check to make sure it vents to the outdoors.</p><p>-Use it while cooking or using your stove.</p><p>-Cook on the back burners, if possible, because the range hood exhausts this area more effectively.</p><p>3-</p><p>. Lichens may look like small plants, but they're actually<strong> </strong>composites of a fungus and an algae. The algae in lichens photosynthesize (create food from sunlight energy), and both the algae and fungus absorb water, minerals, and pollutants from the air, through rain and dust.</p><p>-Two main air pollutants that affect lichen growth are nitrogen and sulphur dioxide.</p><p>4-By strengthening the annual health-based national ambient air quality standard for fine particulate matter (PM<sub>2.5</sub>) from a level of 12 micrograms per cubic meter to 9 micrograms per cubic meter, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's updated standard will save lives preventing up to 4,500 premature deaths</p><p>5-because black communities tend to have higher concentration of pollution</p><p>6-Supreme Court will hear challenge to EPA's 'good neighbor' rule that limits pollution. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a challenge from GOP-led states and industry groups seeking to block the EPA's "good neighbor" provision, which is designed to reduce smog and air pollution. I think this is a really good idea and necessary for all communities. The supreme court has very old values and its not ethical for them to challenge the implementation of this law</p>]]></description>
