A liability in the sense that she feels like a burden, she feels like everyone likes her when she's fun but once the novelty wears off, they leave.

I don't necessarily feel like a liability to everyone around me, but friends leaving me when things got tough--that has happened before. I never really quite figured out how I felt about that but this song just put my feelings into words.

Another favorite part:

Lorde talks about going home into the arms of the girl that she loves, meaning herself. Because at the end of the day, you have no one to count on but yourself.
