Imagism by Madyson Friese

Imagism is a type of poetry written with a common goal to heighten the reader's senses. Imagism does not express any verbalized feeling, those things are left for the reader to interpret. In this collection, you will find two poems and a photo. The poems are more expressive of sad emotions, they try to show sides of things that one doesn't normally see. The photo goes for a more happy expression that gives a feeling of friendship.

This poem was meant to be a little creepy and startling. I wanted to catch the reader off guard. It begins with what feels like innocent and happy visuals, then it turns dark quickly. I chose the color red for the butterfly because red is the color of blood. It relates to he color on the bottom of the boy's shoes. It's meant to show that the boy broke something. I also chose to talk about the color and the smile in the boys eyes, because I believe someones eyes tell a lot about them, without words or explanation.

I wanted the reader to feel sad in this poem, but obviously do that without saying it was meant to be sad. I also placed the poem in a passed tense situation, because I think it makes it feel like its a story about a girl, more like from an outsiders perspective. Dark clouds closed the sky is used because it means that the sky was once bright. Something happened to this girl, thats why she ran away. I also mention that doesn't come back because it makes it feel like she found something better and didn't need to return.

I wanted her to be playing because it creates a feeling like if you have no one else you can always rely on your companion. Harriet is looking at the camera because it gives you a feeling like you're welcome
