Noon time, cruel summer time.

Sunlight bright and shine.

Stonefish, subtle and scary as maybe,

They hide, hanging for the aim to see.

The shark, the noble ambassador of the deep,

Flowing with purpose, a mystery to keep.

The whale, majestic and mild as can be,

Serenading the ocean with haunting harmony.

Activity prospers place the reef and soil meet,

Shrimp swimming in the land, making it complete.

Anemones grin, their tentacles wave,

Clownfish ramble, their courtesy they save.

From lairs to lagoons, from crags to crests,

This land puts nature’s praise to the West.

A curtain woven without looms,

Where world wonders draw and bloom.

Unfortunately, he missed the vivid indigo sky's lightning. He was fatigued. Storms came on cloudless days. Why?

Pain filled him while pedestrians shouted. Lee's mind was still on the mountainous documents he hadn't handled in his office.

Closed eyes and darkness made Lee think, "I can't believe I died like this."

Dead?!

Lee awoke astonished by the scene. He became more perplexed by staring.

The white-walled world wielded no entrances or windows. The unusual surroundings included futuristic architecture and stunning white landscapes. This new reality felt different, so he wondered what it was.

"Hello, Number 1122," said a cold voice, "Welcome to Life Reboot System Headquarters lab. This is Guide 14."

"Get the Life Reboot Guide now. Your journey begins soon. Here are your special pills for returning."

Lee froze. Unknowingly, he pinched himself.

It hurt.

"First, you must change the past."

"Second, you must reshape the future."

"Third, content pending."

Recalling Guide 14, Lee wondered why it didn't follow the script.

"Excuse me, what's going on?" Lee was confused while he surveyed his surroundings.

"The Life Reboot System assists dying regretters. A storm crashed you at 9:40 this morning during your 13th delayed work this month. Your rescue is now in the downtown hospital."

"Rescue?" Grateful to be alive, Lee asked.

"No need for hope. You'll die at 10:40 unless anything happens."

Lee froze and murmured, "Thank you for so considerately telling me when I'll die."

"Now, you have two options," said the icy voice. "Sit and witness rescue and death. Or restart before death."

Lee experienced falling from a tree that hurt his waist deeply.

The pills were the only order to return to the human world. He fell from the tree unprepared after escaping.

Restarting wasn't resurrection; it was more like changing specific regrets.

Still, this dream seemed weird.

Lee's college senior year and death were vital life events.

Lee regretted breaking up with Gin. Parents and siblings advised Gin to study overseas. He agreed with her family that Gin should study abroad after much deliberation.

Lee downplayed long-distance dating. Gin worriedly asked Lee about traveling abroad.

"I am not going anywhere." After silence, Lee said, "My field doesn't require overseas studies."

Gin nodded eagerly. "But I can stay in the country..."

"In our nation? Studying abroad is your best future investment." Interrupted Lee. "Gin, I've told you it doesn't matter if we're apart."

Gin gave up. No contact since.

Lee united with peers later. The table casually discussed Gin. He found Gin exposed him to her family after their separation, causing major chaos. She implored Lee, "Stay," in pain.

He stayed mute.

He regretted rejecting Gin when she approached him bravely.

Lee would not regret it this time.

After swallowing the pills, he saw young Gin.

"Gin, I'll always be here. Do you know?"

Lee nervously held Gin's hand, "Even if many people judge us, I will stand by you and support you unconditionally."

"But..." Lee cried, "But you must study abroad because it's more suitable for your development."

Gin quickly suppressed her hope and hung her head without looking at Lee.

Lee heard about Gin's success years later without meeting. He longed to change the past and knew unchangeable stories caused regrets.

"You should go. If we were together, you'd stay. Let's split up."

Lee repeated his words like before.

Lee took the second pill and got back to his death day. What regret remained was unknown.

He checked his inactive mail account, considering writing Gin to say he was probably dead when she received it.

Unread notifications. Gin left an unread message asking for a meeting when she returned to their hometown a few days later.

He realized his final regret.

He typed thoughtfully, thinking about his response to Gin.

"Let's make it up if we can meet."

"1122, you're back rather late," Guide 14 said. "But it's fine. Sending you back is just a second."

No words could explain Lee's feelings. Near-death sorrow? Feeling wrong about Gin's absence? He regretted leaving his parents as their only child—what would they do?

"I thought I'd have to sit here and watch myself die," Lee said.

"Die?" Guide 14 chuckled coldly. "You misunderstood."

"First, change the past."

"Second, reshape the future."

"Third," the machine said, "mission complete, life rebooted."

10:39.

"If we return you before death, you'll awaken. You'll live normally following recovery."

"Welcome back."

When Lee's lids lifted, a searing surge of pain swept in. His messy surroundings showed "He's alive."

The scene was uncertain. Realizing this medical marvel, Lee struggled to stay awake. The wall clock numerals caught his sight.

10:41.

His life continued.

His old friend with stunning eyes was at his bed.

The spoken word and performance poetry units were fun, combining the power of language with the vibrancy of live delivery. In class, we studied a list of spoken word works, which was quite motivating. I also try to write one haiku in class, which is my first attempt. It was a fun experience! I pushed myself to create works that were more than just poems on paper, but active, emotional performances. Learning how to use my voice, body, and staging to increase the power of my words was a transformative experience.

Finally, the dramatic adaptation unit enabled me to approach creative writing from a cinematic viewpoint. Adapting a short tale for a film plot storyboard required me to consider pacing, visual storytelling, and the connection between dialogue and action. This task helped me understand how textual narratives can be transferred into different formats, which gained my insights into the complexities of visual storytelling.

This course provided me with a comprehensive introduction to the diverse world of creative writing. I believe I ended up with a deeper knowledge of the language, a more sophisticated understand of a variety of genres and styles, and a greater appreciation for the creative process. The abilities and insights I've received will surely benefit my future writing projects, whether they are short stories, poetry, or other creative works.
