During the river tour, students observed how the Mtkvari is connected to the urban planning of the city of Tbilisi. They discussed the role of the river in the development process of the city, its impact on infrastructure and water systems. Special attention was paid to the connection of the Mtkvari with sewage canals, other water resources and the water management system in general.

During the activity, students discussed the ecological state of the river, possible sources of pollution and the impact this has on biodiversity and people's daily lives. The visit strengthened their sense of environmental responsibility and helped develop critical thinking and observation skills.

This activity was an important part of the practical component of the project, which gave the students the opportunity to transfer theoretical knowledge to a real environment and better understand the importance of protecting water resources.

After the lesson, students were assigned tasks, through which they conducted mini-research and gathered information about various important aspects of the river, including its geographical location, ecological condition, uses, and its significance in the life of the city.

The students presented their work at a high level and were actively engaged throughout the process. They gained a deeper understanding of the main river in their city, its role, and the challenges it faces in the modern environment.

The activity significantly contributed to the development of students’ research skills, critical thinking, and environmental responsibility.

During the trip, students observed that the recent heavy rainfall had significantly increased the water level and accelerated the flow of the stream. Because of the fast current, mud and various wastes were carried along the water, causing it to appear muddy and polluted. Students discussed how rainfall patterns, erosion, and environmental conditions can directly affect water quality and ecosystems.

One of the most remarkable parts of the activity was learning about the long journey of the water. Students discovered that the water originating from Uludağ flows through Bursa and merges with the Nilüfer Stream, then joins the Simav Stream before eventually reaching the Marmara Sea. This led to discussions about how even a small local water source can become part of a much larger global water system.

From the Marmara Sea, the water can continue to the Aegean Sea and then to the Mediterranean Sea. From there, it may travel through the Suez Canal and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait to reach the Indian Ocean, or pass through the Strait of Gibraltar and flow into the Atlantic Ocean. Through this example, students realized that water has no borders and is part of an interconnected global cycle.

This field trip provided students not only with the opportunity to observe a local water source, but also to better understand the importance of water in agriculture, ecosystems, and the global environment. The activity helped strengthen their environmental awareness, observation skills, and understanding of the world’s interconnected natural systems.

The main goal of this field walk was to help our students understand the innerconnectedjourney of water from our local streams to the global ocean.

We started our trip in Altındere,then Çürüksu and lasted in Büyük Menderes.The trip was conducted under the expert .Social Sciences teacher, Murat Karol.His guidance and geographical expertise provided students with a deep understanding of the local ecosystem.

Students were equipped with specialized Action Kits,including A3 observation boards,markers and water safe clipboards.

During our recent field trip, our students underwent an incredible transformation from passive observers into active nature researchers . By investigating our local water sources firsthand, they mapped out how a single stream connects to the global ocean system.

​They weren't just taking notes—they were analyzing flow dynamics, studying biodiversity, documenting human impact, and sketching local specimens. This hands-on experience has sharpened their critical thinking, enhanced their research skills, and sparked a profound sense of environmental responsibility.

This critical section is now fully finalized and highlighted on our posters, which have been uploaded to the system and displayed in our school gallery to encourage collective environmental responsibility.
