Another example of dark tourism is the Choeung Ek Killing Fields, which is national memorial site for the Cambodian genocide at the hands of the Khmer Rogue under Pol Pot between 1975 to 1979. Tourists can pay their respects by laying flowers and placing incense sticks in a pot of sand provided to enter a large stupa filled with the skulls and bones of over 8000 victims. These are some examples of dark tourism that can be enjoyed in Cambodia.
