Our ideas were to use index cards folded like accordions for springs and shock-absorbers. Since the device always fell on its side, my team decided to move the cup to the opposite side so the pressure would be even. We put straws between the crease of the index cards on the bottom so that the device wouldn't spring back up in the higher drops.

The goal of this challenge is to design and develop a shock-absorbing system that will successfully land two astronauts on the ground. Our spacecraft must remain upright with your astronauts in their cabin as you drop your design from two feet, four feet, and six feet. You have to add a shock absorbing system to insure that your astronauts do not fall out.

My team made shock absorbers by folding index cards in an accordion shape so that would act like a spring and absorb most of the shock. We also made sure that when the device fell at two feet, it did not flop to the side. For two feet, our astronauts did not fall off. For four feet, one of our astronauts fell out of the cabin. The cabin also broke off. For six feet, one of the astronauts fell out of the cabin but the springs worked perfectly compared to my thoughts.
