Introduction
Friendship thrives primarily on good relationships.
However, sometimes even friends have altercations.
When did it happen?
Last year there was a strong argument between two of my friends.
During the corona pandemic, my country was in a state of lockdown.
Many of us gained tremendous weight during that period.
Because during the lockdown, we didn’t engage in much physical exercise
Apart from this, we ate a lot.
Hence, to lose weight, we all college friends decided to help each other.
Our whole group connected through video conferencing
We nominated two guys from our group who were fit to mentor the group.
Both of the mentors are my bosom friends.
When the mentors started giving us weight-loss tips, both of them argued.
The first mentor said weight-loss exercise is more important.
 The second mentor countered his view by saying that diet is more significant for maintaining an ideal weight.
How it get solved?
To end the ongoing debate, we divided the group into two teams.
Team A worked under the supervision of the first mentor, and Team B’s team leader was 2nd mentor.
Team A focussed more on exercise, and Team B’s more attention was on having a balanced and nutritious diet.
The results were astonishing because all participants lose weight.
However, Team B’s performance was better than Team A. There was a paradigm shift in their overall look because all participants experienced significant weight loss.
Hence, the revelation was that diet plays a more important role than a physical workout for losing weight.
What do you think about it?
Initially, I had apprehensions regarding the debate between two of my amigos.
But later on, I liked it.

However, there is this painting that really mesmerized right at the moment I laid my eyes on it. It was an oil-painting portrait named “Little Thuy” by Tran Van Can, who is a nationally-acclaimed Vietnamese painter.

To the best of my recollection, it was in my 4th grade when I saw this picture for the first time. Actually, I didn’t saw it in person but in my art textbook as the real McCoy was displayed in Hanoi – the capital of Vietnam. Of the paintings in my fine art textbook at that time, “Little Thuy” stood out to me most because of her angelic face and the exceptional painting technique of the painter. The painting featured a girl named Thuy, who lived next door to his house. Judging from her appearance, I guessed that she was about 8 to 10 years old. The girl dressed in white, half sitting on a chair with her eyes widely open. She wasn’t smiling cheerfully like her peers found in other paintings, but looked rather emotionless and inscrutable. It was believed that her eyes reflect the soulful world of Chan Van Can as he witnessed the then westernization of Vietnamese society. According to the textbook, this painting was considered one of the best artworks in the first half of the 20th century, when oil painting was newly introduced to Vietnam. Speaking of my feelings about “Little Thuy”, it’s hard to put into words but there’s some charm about this painting that appealed me to this day. Hopefully, I can have the opportunity to visit Hanoi to admire the beauty of this masterpiece with my own eyes.

A famous person I’d like to meet is Bryan Cranston. He’s an American actor who is best-known for his role as Walter White in the famous TV show, Breaking Bad. Actually, Bryan Cranston has appeared in many TV shows and movies, including a really funny show that he did before Breaking Bad called Malcolm in the Middle. However, I think for most people he’s always going to be identified with the character of Walter White, the chemistry teacher who turned into a drug dealer. His performance in that show was so iconic that he will forever be remembered not just by fans but anyone who knows anything about American TV.

I want to meet him not just because he’s a great actor but also because I’ve heard him give so many interviews and he seems like a really great guy. He has amazingly funny stories to tell and he always gives so much of his time and energy to his fans. I don’t really know what I’d do if I met Bryan Cranston because I’ve never actually met a famous person before. However, I’d probably shake his hand and tell him I really admire his work on screen and on stage. Making decisions by myself has always been the most difficult part about growing up. I’ve at times preferred introspecting by myself and at very major situations I’ve discussed the issue with my family and friends. One decision that I’ve struggled to make in my life was that about what stream to pursue after my high school. My parents thought that the field of technology was appropriate for me while on the other hand I felt that I could do so much better with arts. I made this decision when I was 19 years of old, just after finishing my 12th grade. My parents never forced their decision upon me instead they always advised me to pursue what my heart wanted. My dad always suggested that I should do what I thought was best for me. Everyone assumed my decision to be immature and stupid and thought that I was a fool.

But after giving time and thought to the decision making and keeping in mind the several issues and perspective I decided to get myself enrolled to a university that offers degree in designing. I’m very happy that I made this decision. I’ve yet a year to finish my graduation but throughout the last 3 years I have enjoyed working on lot of creative projects and I am doing quite well academically.

I must point out that making this choice was not easy and I had to go through a very hard time. I had to fight a lot with my inner self and then convince my parents for the same. There were always lot of potential risks of picking the option I prefer my parents would have complained if I hadn’t made a success out of myself. I still remember the sleepless nights and dubious feelings I had that time. Sometimes I thought of giving up on my passion and yield to my parents’ decision and but I made myself realise that I shouldn’t give up so easily on something that I’m really good at. Since I made my own choice at that time, a strong urge and force worked on me that I have to do really good and I am happy that I took my decision and doing very good so far.

Unfortunately, my mom was also not well on that day so I had to attend them too. After we had lunch, one of the children broke his plate and injured himself. I took him to the doctor and got him bandaged. I was so annoyed due to all this. My holiday was getting wasted and I was not able to study for my exam. After that, when I sat for doing my preparation. At the same time, both the children started to watch tv and turned up the volume high. I was unable to study due to their distraction. It’s always been an unpleasant experience when getting sick, at least for me personally. Then it'd be even more unpleasant if you got sick right before an important exam, and it happened to me once. 

It happened last year when I was about to take an IELTS exam that I caught severe flu. It was so serious that I had to cancel and reschedule the test. 

Even though flu is not a really serious disease and can go away on its own, it’s still quite troublesome when it occurs. I got some symptoms about two days before the exam, but they were so mild and unnoticeable that I didn't pay much attention and bother to take any medicine. On the first day, I just felt my throat a bit sore, like something was blocking it. There was nothing more serious than that for the next day. Then the night before the exam, I felt fatigued, and around midnight, I got a fever. That was the last thing I expected to happen right before such a big day. I took an aspirin to reduce the fever and tried to get back to sleep in the hope that everything would be alright in the morning. But it was not. 

When I woke up in the morning, my head was pounding. What was worse was that my throat was so painful that I couldn't say a word. That was when I realised I couldn't make it to the exam and had no choice but to stay home.

However, I can think of one which enticed me to go and watch, I’ll tell you as much as I can about the event, how often it takes places and why it was, to me at least, interesting! 

The sporting event I went to was Le Tour de France – except it wasn’t! For one year only the opening stages took place near to where I live in South Yorkshire, but more of that later. 

The event is a world-famous cycling race. It takes place every year, in a series of stages which are mainly in France, but it does occasionally pass through other countries. I think it started around 1903 and has taken place each year since then – apart from during the two world wars when obviously it was suspended. The cyclists are professional riders, and the tour is gruelling. The route changes each year, but always includes both hilly and mountain stages, fast flat sections and covers a huge distance of some three and a half thousand kilometres over about 23 days. I am told there are about 20 teams or so each year, each with nine riders. To be honest, I get very confused about how it is all timed and organised, but I do know that for each stage, the rider who has completed it in the fastest time gets to wear a yellow jersey for the next stage of the tour. 

The race has fallen foul of cheating over the years, famously Lance Armstrong who won it some seven times I think was later banned for drug-taking. However, more recently cycling has cleaned up its act and gained in popularity. In 2014, a decision was made to have the Grand Depart – the start of the Tour de France in South Yorkshire. This part of England where I live has fantastic scenery and very, very steep hills that were deemed suitably challenging of the super-fit and competitive cyclists. Although I’ve never previously been interested in cycling, some of my friends are, and with such a world-famous event happening on my doorstep I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out. 

On the day of the race itself, lots of roads were closed. I met up with some friends and we caught a tram as far out of the city as we could, and then walked the final stages to a good viewing point along the route. I had no idea what to expect but it was amazing! The weather was gorgeous, and Yorkshire and Sheffield folk had turned out in droves.  I think about 2.5 million of us lined the route over the weekend it was passing through. I climbed up a bank and hung onto a tree to get a good vantage point as the cyclists raced through in the peloton (a new word for me that I learned whilst spectating). To be completely honest, the actual cyclists passed by in an instant, what made the event fun to watch was the build-up and the atmosphere. The race was led by a convoy of floats and support vehicles. There was lots of good-natured banter and sharing of food and snacks as the crowds waited for the bikes to come, and plenty of people in hilarious fancy dresses on French or cycling themes. Bunting was hanging everywhere, and brightly painted yellow bikes were scattered along the route. The weather showed off our Yorkshire hills and scenery at its very best, it was awesome! 

I was really proud to be one of the supporters on what was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see The Tour de France passing through practically on my doorstep (I live in Sheffield). The race director for the event later described Yorkshire's Grand Depart as the "grandest" in the 111-year history of the race, it was wonderful to be part of that… it hasn’t made me want to take up cycling, though – those hills are ferocious!

It is the Asian U23 football event. The football tournament was held in Changzhou, China, the young team of coach Park Hang-Seo created earthquakes in the continent when it reached the final of the Asian U23 tournament. Overcoming very strong opponents like Australia, Iraq, and Qatar in turn, and only stopping before Uzbekistan, U23 Vietnam has made home fans live in real football parties. The image of Mr. Park's boys fighting under the rain and snow in Changzhou certainly touched all football-loving hearts and made the international media take off their hats in admiration. That event was supported by Vietnamese fans and chanted "Vietnam fighting!!". And my feelings when Vietnam was awarded 2nd place in the Asian U23 Championship is the proudest for me and I will forever remember the greatest event in Vietnamese football. Always support Vietnamese football players.

Luckily, I got accepted there, and I was very happy. The things I have to do in the club are plan the program, ask for the price for the necessary items for the program, and organize a mini event to introduce the program. After joining that club, I made a lot of friends and gained more experience and good memories. Thanks to the quote from my best friend, that gave me the courage to join that club.
