The article "Redefining the Teacher's Role in Education through Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)" explores the profound transformation AGI could bring to educational systems. One of its central points is the shift from traditional teaching roles to more dynamic and supportive roles enabled by AGI. The article emphasizes that AGI can personalize learning, offer real-time feedback, and support adaptive educational environments. These capabilities allow teachers to move beyond being mere transmitters of knowledge to becoming facilitators and mentors who focus on emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and creativity. The integration of AGI repositions teachers as central figures in guiding students through rich, individualized learning experiences, not by replacing human presence but by amplifying it.

From an English teacher’s perspective, AGI should not be seen as a threat but as an opportunity to redefine teaching practice. English teachers can use AGI tools to provide students with immediate grammar corrections, vocabulary enhancements, and pronunciation feedback, thereby supporting language acquisition more efficiently. This frees up the teacher’s time to concentrate on communicative competence, cultural context, and personalized feedback. Moreover, AGI can help teachers identify each student’s linguistic strengths and weaknesses through data analysis, allowing for differentiated instruction tailored to individual needs. Teachers would become curators of content, emotional supporters, and designers of collaborative, inclusive, and real-world language tasks that AGI cannot effectively replicate due to its lack of genuine human empathy and creativity.

Ultimately, the role of English teachers in the age of AGI should center on fostering global communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and critical thinking through language. AGI can serve as a powerful assistant, but it is the teacher who humanizes the learning process. Ethical considerations—such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and equitable access—must also be at the forefront to ensure AGI implementation enhances rather than replaces the human touch in education. By embracing innovation while maintaining pedagogical integrity, English teachers can redefine their roles as transformative agents in a rapidly evolving educational landscape.

This reflection analyzes how the General Artificial Intelligence (AGI) can transform the role of the teacher in education, especially that of the English teacher. Highlights the benefits of AGI in personalizing learning, providing immediate feedback and improving adaptive teaching, allowing teachers to move from being knowledge transmitters to learning facilitators. It is argued that the English teacher should take advantage of AGI to focus on human aspects such as communication, empathy and critical thinking, while technology supports technical and repetitive tasks. Finally, the importance of addressing ethical challenges and ensuring that inclusion of AGI complements, not replaces, teaching work is stressed.
