Brown v. Board of Education showed that the 1950s was a time of conflict because kids were segregated in schools and it was harmful to the black children. Being segregated left them with feelings of inferiority. It also violated the 14th Amendment in the Constitution. In the Brown v. Board of Education, Oliver Brown sued the Topeka Board of Education because his daughter, Linda, went to an all black school an hour away. When she requested to attend a closer school, her request was denied. Overtime, after this Brown v. Board of Education case, the Justice Department began the process of desegregation and peace was made by bringing all races together in school.

On December 5, 1955, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. emerged as the leader of the civil rights movement following the arrest of Rosa Parks. Mrs. Parks, jailed for refusing to relinquish her seat to a white man on a Montgomery city bus. African Americans started peacefully protesting and stopped riding public transportation. Lasting 381 days, the Montgomery Bus Boycott resulted in the Supreme Court ruling segregation on public buses unconstitutional. A significant play towards civil rights and transit equity, the Montgomery Bus Boycott helped eliminate early barriers to transportation access. We find this event a time of conflict due to white people disagreeing violently towards the peaceful protesters.

In this case which started in October 1951 when Pete Hernandez got murdered in cold blood by another Mexican . Joe Espinosa then went to court which got convicted in less than 3 hours. The lawyers working in the Hernandez case were Inter Gus Garcia and Carlos Cadena trying to show that you should be treated the same way no matter what. The full court room was full of White men . The 1950s stil shows as a conflict not peace because even tho after the Hernandez case they said their would be no more discrimination there was still more which meant equallity wasnt there yet.
- Ashanty Hernandez , Juan Chavez , Samantha Medina
