I do think this a seamless process and a great way to get all of your students on board and participating. I keep thinking about the issue of chronic absenteeism or wifi issues both at home and school.

I look forward to talking to you more about this strategy as it is intriguing; Good Job!

Chunking has got to be one of my favorite strategies largely due to the fact that I struggled with it for so long and still do, both as a pupil and an educator. I like that you provide a limit of 7 things to incorporate on a slide or scaffold; chunking down a complex thing into actionable steps, allows for small progressive steps and it is much easier to get back on track that way, in the likely case of a mishap. Great tool Sylvio!

Hey Izzy, such an important strategy! It is commendable that you take it upon yourself to meet with your students outside of regular curriculum hours to ensure for their comprehension, AND essentially their well being within your community. As an MLL, there're lots going on around you and can sometimes be difficult for an MLL to discern their learning objectives and other info they can let go of; I guarantee each one of your MLLs appreciate having you as their teacher. From your strategy, it's clear that you're the type of educator any MLL wish they had.

It is very culturally responsive to add sentence starters as a way to get students to hone in on their reading and writing skills. I should also start making concept maps/ sentence stems a mandatory part of the assignment whenever I have my next socratic discussion; as a way to maximize student participation!

Second; I found myself wondering how I could utilize this strategy in a Social Studies/History lesson. I loved how you were able to get real-time data and give real-time feedback. It takes away the anxiety a student may have when waiting for feedback from a "traditional" assignment or assessment.
Finally, the way you incorporated translations into what you write and what you receive from students was incredible!

Mamadou -
This was a great presentation. You were able to fit in a lot of useful information for us in a very short amount of time.
I especially loved how you were able to incorporate identity charts into a history lesson on the Great Depression - without it seeming "forced." The answers your students gave told me that they felt safe and included as they related their own stories to American history! Really, well done!

Dan -
This was a very well done presentation! The scaffolding you put in place and the steps you took before the SS were very impressive! We all know the work it takes to put effective scaffolds in place, you did a masterful job with all of it. I also did a lot of modifying different written sources/articles. It ain't easy, so I can relate to the work you had to put in to accomplish that.
Again, great job!

Amaris -
The preparation that must have been involved with this paid off with what your students took away from it. Not only was it a great idea but you also made it fun, inclusive, and relevant! The trading cards with raw materials was awesome because it gave a nudge for students to interact with each other, so, this activity is also building the classroom community...brilliant! I've never played Minecraft, so I can't relate any similarities. I have played Monopoly, and was able to see some similarities.
I don't know if it was intentional but the "Assistant to the Manager" position sounded very much like "The Office" reference.
Awesome job of gamifying a complex global practice and not only making it fun but making it understandable to 9th-graders!

Iz -
Awesome job! I'm all about routines and how that can help any student feel safe and establish structure in their education. Giving the student a voice and agency in their education is so very important and I think you're on to something with this project!
Keeping copious notes for each meeting is understandably vital. I'm curious to know how you would go about handling a higher number of MLL students when it comes to this strategy? Would you remove some of the steps or structure? Just curious. You will probably answer that in your Capstone.
Great job, Izzy!
