Students will connect writing a personal narrative to the act of sharing their own experiences. By telling their own stories, they naturally engage in the process of personal storytelling, which serves as the foundation for writing a compelling narrative.

How can the connection be shown?

First, share a personal story(it should be interesting or fun). I told my students about the time I was late to the airport but because I bought tickets from VietJet(they are famous for delaying flights), I got lucky and ended up on the plane.

Then ask students to share their own funny or interesting stories.

Can be shown before or after sharing the stories.

By sharing their stories, students already create their first drafts but in their heads. They also provide multiple examples to other students.
