         <description><![CDATA[<p><br/></p><p><strong>Viruses vs. Cells: Structures and How Viruses Cause Disease</strong></p><p>Viruses and cells are both important in biology, but they have very different structures and functions. Cells are the basic units of life; they have organelles, a cell membrane, cytoplasm, and carry out all the activities needed to live. Viruses, on the other hand, are much simpler. They are not considered living things because they cannot reproduce or carry out life functions on their own. Viruses consist of genetic material (DNA or RNA) inside a protein coat, and sometimes a lipid envelope.</p><p>Viruses spread by entering living cells and using the cell’s machinery to make more viruses. This often destroys the cell and causes disease in the organism.
