Due to quality of bamboo I had a limitation so I decided to glue the Bamboo

I learn to glue bamboo together during the process

I gathered the material last week and this week term 1 week 3 I completed my SIL for Semester 1

this took me kinda awhile cause I had to learn the both instruments parts separately qnd combine it together and I realsied my coordination is really bad 🧑‍🦲✌ but I learnt to prerservre and get the finish product trUUUst

I learnt how to use a bit of the alight motion key frame system and some of the effects and I must say kudos to those who animate on editing software because WHAT THE HECK

I'll learn how to use light, angles, motion, and editing to make sports cars look fast, sleek, and epic in photos.

2. How can I go about my learning?

Start by practicing shots, learning camera settings, experimenting with angles and light, and editing your photos regularly.

3. What do I need to do to complete this SIL?

Shoot cars, experiment with angles and light, edit your photos, reflect on your learning, and present your best work.

Although I had some experience in animating I have never animated fluids before so this was interesting (plus watching videos trying to learn how water behaves) ! I liked how the final product turned out and I’ll try to animate waves next time

I explored car photography by taking pictures of different cars that I saw around my neighborhoods and during outings. I chose this activity because I have an interest in cars and photography. Through this experience, I learnt how lighting, angles, and timing can affect the quality of a photo. I also became more observant of details such as car designs, colors, and reflections. This activity helped me improve my creativity and photography skills while doing something I enjoy.

Shogi I think is like a strategy game similar to chess? I've only seen it like in anime but other than that I dont know much.

After research:

After researching for abit my guess was kinda correct being it is similar to chess with a special condition with that being the peices can be 'reused' . When a piece gets taken and it is your turn you can choose not to move any of your pieces and instead add your enemies piece that you have taken and place it on the board as your own piece, this for me really adds a new dimension to the game compared to chess. Also like chess the peices can also be promoted. The board itself is a 9×9 square. The promotion zone is 3 rows furthest away from you.

In conclusion shogi is a very complicated and challenging game forcing your brain to really think, next SIL I will be learning about the peices and the hierarchy of them.

(Gyoku)

• Similar to chess the king can only move one square in any direction, to win the game you must checkmate this piece.

Second in the hierarchy is the Rook (Hisha)

• It can move any number of squares vertically or horizontally but never diagonally. However unlike chess this peice can promote into another peice also known as the Dragon King allowing it to additionally move 1 square diagonally.

Next is the Bishop(Kaku)

• Just like chess it can move any number of squares diagonally but it promotes to Dragon Horse and gains the ability to step 1 square orthogonally( like a + movement )

Next we have the Gold General (Kin)

• Its movement is very weird as it can only move 1 square orthogonally then move one square diagonally forward, this piece does not promote.

Next is the Silver General(Gin)

• It can only move 1 square diagonally or 1 square straight forward this peice will promote to a piece like the Gold General .

Next is the Knight(Keima)

• This peice is similar to the Knight in chess as it moves in an L-shape movement with 2 squares forward then 1 square to the side. However it promotes to a Gold General like piece.

Next is the Lance (Kyosha)

• This piece moves any number of squares but only straight forward which I find quite umm useless but maybe it can help out in a way.. it promotes to also a Gold General like peice.

Finally is the pawn (Fuhyo) the lowest ranking of all the peices

• It can only move and capture one square straight forward, it promotes to a Gold General like piece.

In conclusion all the pieces have their part to play in this mind boggling game but I still think the lance piece is not very good, one other thing is most of the pieces promote to a Gold General like piece so I'm guessing that is equivalent to a queen in chess. Next SIL I will be covering the history and the creation of Shogi.

is the most popular chess game in japan. It ancestry was from Chinese chess ( xiangqi) and the Indian chess game Chaturanga ( not so sure whT it is.

The Heian period: ( 794 to 1185 )

During this time many variants of all sorts of shogi were created and emerging in japan some of these variants include chu shogi and dai shogi and these variants were usually played on large boards different from the now modern 9×9 square board.

Muromachi period ( 1336 to 1573 )

During this periods most of the variants had died off and the rules of shogi became standardised by four major shogi houses who set the ground work for now modern shogi, they were the Honinbo house, Hayashi, Inoue and Yasui house. These houses all had the support of the shogunate.

Now:

Through many centuries the game has become institutionalised, with title systems and formal ranking systems being formed.

With this I have taken a deeper perspective into this strategy game that have existed for many centuries, this strategy game really makes you think like a general controlling an army which makes me fascinated and interested 😯.

Next SIL I will try actually playing a game of Shogi!

Through this experience I've realised that shogi is not an easy game and I have to learn more about it before I can be confident to try to play. Through this I have reflected and will go research more on this fascinating game.

Wanted to do vlogging but I was helping my mum with work so I was busy during the june holidays.

Wanted to bake but did not want to spent money on ingredients but manage to go to my friend house and make dubai chewy as is expensive to get it but didnt film it as my phone got taken for sneaking out to lepak but I got pics.

Objective

Win by checkmating your opponent's king. Checkmate means:

• The king is under attack (in check).

• The king has no legal move to escape.

• No other piece can block or capture the attacking piece.

How the pieces move

♙ Pawn

• Moves 1 square forward.

• On its first move, it may move 2 squares forward.

• Captures 1 square diagonally forward.

• Cannot move backward.

♖ Rook

• Moves any number of squares horizontally or vertically.

♘ Knight

• Moves in an L-shape:

  • 3 squares in one direction, then 2 square perpendicular.

• The only piece that can jump over other pieces.

♗ Bishop

• Moves any number of squares diagonally.

♕ Queen

• Combines the rook and bishop.

• Moves any number of squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

♔ King

• Moves 1 square in any direction.

• Cannot move into check.

Piece Values (rough guide)

• Pawn = 1

• Knight = 3

• Bishop = 3

• Rook = 5

• Queen = 9

• King = Priceless (can't be traded)

Special Moves

1. Castling

The only move where two pieces move at once.

Kingside Castling (Short)

King moves 2 squares toward the rook, rook jumps to the square beside the king.

Queenside Castling (Long)

King moves 2 squares toward the queenside rook, rook jumps next to the king.

You can castle only if:

• King has never moved.

• Chosen rook has never moved.

• No pieces are between them.

• King is not currently in check.

• King does not move through or end on a square under attack.

2. En Passant

This is the trickiest rule.

Example:

• Your pawn is on e5.

• Opponent moves a pawn from d7 to d5 (2 squares).

• Your pawn may capture it as if it had moved only one square.

• Your pawn moves to d6, and the opponent's pawn is removed.

Important:

• You must do it immediately on the next move.

• If you don't, the opportunity disappears forever.

3. Pawn Promotion

When a pawn reaches the last rank:

• White reaches rank 8.

• Black reaches rank 1.

It must be promoted to:

• Queen (most common)

• Rook

• Bishop

• Knight

You are not limited by captured pieces—you could even have two queens.

Check vs Checkmate

Check

Your king is under attack.

You must:

• Move the king.

• Block the attack.

• Capture the attacking piece.

Checkmate

None of those options work.
You lose.

Stalemate

It's your turn, you have no legal moves, but your king isn't in check.

Result: Draw.

Draw Rules

A game is also a draw if:

• Both players agree.

• Threefold repetition: the same position occurs three times.

• Fifty-move rule: 50 consecutive moves by each player without any pawn move or capture.

• Insufficient material (for example, king vs. king, or king and bishop vs. king).

Illegal Moves

You cannot:

• Move into check.

• Leave your king in check.

• Capture your own pieces.

• Move through pieces (except the knight).

• Castle while in check or through check.

Basic Opening Principles

For your first 10 moves:

1. Control the center (e4, d4, e5, d5).

2. Develop knights before bishops (generally).

3. Castle early to protect your king.

4. Avoid moving the same piece repeatedly without a good reason.

5. Bring out your queen later rather than too early.

Chess Notation

The board uses files (columns) a–h and ranks (rows) 1–8.

Examples:

• e4 = pawn moves to e4.

• Nf3 = knight to f3.

• Bxc4 = bishop captures on c4.

• O-O = kingside castling.

• O-O-O = queenside castling.

• e8=Q = pawn promotes to a queen.
