Robert Lafollette is governor of Wisconsin. Lafollette comes up with the "Wisconsin Idea" which became a huge idea during the Progressive Era. This caused many people to focus on the problems rising from the Industrial Revolution about the health and quality of the human population. With the University of Wisconsin-Madison, him and Charles Van Hise wrote the first textbook on conservation.
