Hello! My name is Dana Bachelder and I will be facilitating our Wednesday night lab. I can't wait to meet all of you and go on this incredible journey through the human body.

I have been in education for 27 years - most of which have been as a high school science teacher and adjunct faculty member at Aquinas College, University of Phoenix, and Kellogg Community College. I am currently an Asst. Principal at Union High School in Grand Rapids.

I share 5 kids with my husband, who is the Facilities Director at the Downtown Market in Grand Rapids, and we also have a mini-Goldendoodle named Max.

I enjoy the outdoors, games like Sequence, Mexican Train, and Euchre, and spending time with family and friends.

Excited to lead you as we explore the magnificence of the human body. This is my 15th year at MCC. My wife is a Associate Professor at GVSU in the Dept of Communication Sciences and Disorders. We have 5 children, three of whom have attended MCC. My oldest earned her RN at MCC, her BSN at GVSU, and is finishing her final year on her DNP in neonatal medicine while caring for my first grandchild. My second received her AA at MCC, her BS at GVSU, her MD at the University of Central Florida, and is now an Emergency Room Physician. My third received is BA from GVSU in finance and now works as a Certified Financial Planner at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. My fourth has completed summer courses at MCC, is working on his Mechanical Engineering degree at GVSU, and hopes to work in the automotive engineering field. My baby has been learning Mandarin for 9 years and is in heading into 9th grade in the Chinese Immersion Program at Forest Hills Northern High School. He plays football, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, track, and keeps us very busy. I put this here, not to brag or bore you, but to demonstrate that MCC is a great place to start your academic career and that like you, I am a very busy person!

I am the coordinator for the Health Pre-Professional Club. While the group has been on hiatus during the pandemic, I hope to start back this Fall. You'll find out more on MyMCC under Campus Life --> Clubs and Organizations.

When I am not keeping up with my kids, I enjoy singing and/or playing saxophone with the Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus, HarkUp Ministries, and my church.

Finally, I am the eighth person (one of 10) in the world to receive a vestibular implant. You'll definitely be hearing more about that as we move through the semester.

Welcome to BIOL 152 Lab! I’m Jane Wright, your face-to-face lab instructor! I love teaching and learning. I have been teaching A&P at MCC since 2006. I am a physical therapist and a teacher. As a physical therapist I have the privilege to help people optimize their movement to allow them to feel good and participate in life. As a teacher, I can assist and inspire students on their journey to achieve their dreams. I am now enjoying my encore “teaching career” in health and wellness. This includes teaching Tai Chi and Senior Fitness classes in addition to A&P at MCC.

I have three adult children and three granddaughters. I am blessed to have my daughters and granddaughters living nearby! My favorite things include playing with my granddaughters, gardening, hiking, music, quiet time, and anything outside.

Welcome to Biology 152. I look forward to guiding you through the many body systems within human anatomy.

This is my 14th year as an adjunct instructor at MCC. I have worked in the laboratories of Hackley and Mercy hospitals for over 30 years and bring my expertise as a Pathologists’ Assistant to the classroom.

My good friend and I are warmly anticipating your arrival in our lab this semester! We have been together since 2015 and have many good stories to tell.

I am a pathologist - a physician specializing in laboratory medicine and have been practicing 33+ years. My special interests are hematology, cytology and forensic pathology. My most current job is medical director of two plasma collection centers.

I play bagpipes in the Muskegon Police band and try to fit in golf, tennis and pickle ball when I can. My wife of 49 years and I have 3 grown kids and 4 not so grown grandkids. She plays French horn and alpen horn...so far, we have not found any music suitable for a duet!

Hello all! I am taking Biology 152 this semester because it is part of the course requirements for the nursing program. Right out of high school, I was a Patient Care Associate (PCA) at Hackley Hospital. Then I married a private in the Army and life happened.
My husband and I lived in in North Carolina for about four years, as well as Hawaii for four years. We have an eleven year old daughter and twin nine year old sons!
We moved back to Michigan to be closed to family. I worked as a City Letter Carrier in Muskegon for seven years. In 2021, I decided to go back to college and am on the waiting list for the nursing program.
I just started working at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital as a PCA this summer. I also started working out again last week and plan to continue to improve my health. So if you see me walking like a robot, it might have been leg day!
We have 34 chickens and two pigs that we are raising for eggs and meat. We also have a nice garden with fruits and veggies. We have a three year old Pit Bull mix that my husband saved.
I'm very excited and nervous about taking this class. I love science and can't wait to get started. If there are any opportunities for study groups, I would like to find a way to participate. Supplemental instruction at the tutoring center has helped me a lot with math in the past, so I will definitely utilize that.

Hello everyone,
my name is Angelique Staley(The mommy and wife on the picture) and i am 32 years old. I moved here to the US from Germany about 10 years ago. My English is good but i am still very nervous to go back to school and do it all in a different language.
My Husband is from Indianapolis and we lived there for 8 years, until we had to move here in 2020 for his Residency program (He is an Emergency physician).

My hobbies are running, baking and swimming(loving the Lake life). We bought a "fixer upper" House and i love to work on that whenever i find some extra time. My last summer project was to refinish our bathroom vanity.

Up to this point i was pretty much a stay at home mom to support my husbands busy journey through medical school.
After delivering my second daughter with an amazing Nurse(Who went to Nursing school when she was 40), i started developing an interest in going back to college for my Nursing degree. A few years later, here i am!
With both of my kids in school in the fall, i am ready to study, learn and become the best nurse out there so that someone else gets inspired by me someday.

I've been working in the dental field for 17 yrs as a dental assistant as well as doing front desk work. Ever since I started working as a dental assistant my goal was to become a dental hygienist but life and work got in between that now that my children are older I decided to go back to school to pursue my dream. I absolutely love biology! It was always one of my favorite classes in high school. I can't express how excited I am to be in a Lab!

Some of my hobbies are baking, fishing, going to the gym, yoga, and coloring. My favorite thing to make are wedding cakes! Salmon fishing is my favorite type of fishing (it's also starting up here soon).

Hello, my name is Cory Eskes.

I am from Hudsonville where I live with my wife, son, and three cats. I work at Holland Community Hospital as a phlebotomist and have been employed there for almost eight years. My primary hobby is collecting vinyl records, and a fun fact about myself is that I am the oldest of seven children.

When I am not working or spending time with my family, I am taking classes to pursue a nursing degree. This anatomy class and its accompanying lab are the next steps on that path, and I can not wait to get started. When I complete my degree I hope to work as an ER Nurse with Holland Hospital.

My name is Mason Deible, I already have a degree in criminal just, at some point in time I’ll use my credits to be a substitute teacher for schools. I am taking this class because I am currently an EMT, and taking a little bit off my load for my paramedic course next year. I usually tend to be fairly active playing a number of sports on my free time as well as learning new things. I play instruments of all sorts but lately it’s been guitar. I have never been married and have no kids. I look forward to getting to know everyone in the class as well as working with everyone. I graduated from MCC.. I don’t know when, but graduated Ravenna High School in 2016. At MCC I am still part of the Geo Club. I use to work at a sheriffs department for almost 3 years and I have now been an EMT for almost a year. Why the career change you might ask? Simply because I lost someone near and dear to me from respiratory conditions and COVID did not help it, and my mum had some cancerous stuff going on as well. I had troubles understanding people’s health and medical issues and ever since starting this new career I have not stopped learning and I hope to continue to learn from others and experiences.

I have always had a passion for taking care of others, and becoming a nurse to care for newborns is my number one goal. I can't wait to accomplish that goal!

Hello, my name is Toni. I am taking this class (Biology 152) this fall semester because it is a course requirement for my nursing program. I helped care for many people in my family during their last days on this earth. Including my beautiful grandmother whom I lived with, sadly she passed on my 18th birthday. I don't have much work experience anywhere. I mainly babysat, worked at Michigan's adventure, and McDonalds. I am currently 18 years old. I would love to be able to join a study group if the opportunity arises. I am so excited for this class, but also very nervous. I haven't been the best in school, but I was told by many people in my family to follow my dreams, so here I am. Hello! My name is Madalyn Deason. I am 26 years old, and still trying to figure out life. I am engaged to a wonderful man, and a step mother to the most loving little boy. I started my college career in 2011 as a dual enrolled college student. I attended a major university from 2014-2016, but was lost in life and didn't know what direction to go. I ended up leaving school and going into the restaurant business. I have managed several business since then, but have always felt a calling to help people. After my grandmother passed away this past fall, I knew I wanted to do more to help people, and decided to finally go back to school and study nursing. Here I am now, working full time, and trying to make it all work.

My goal is to become a nurse, I'm not 100% sure what kind. I'm very interested in both mental health, my first go round in school I was studying psychology, as well as L&D.

My name is Zach. This is my second year at MCC. I am attending college to be a Bio Med Tech. I was in the Navy from 2011-2016 as a Hospital Corpsman. During my time in the Navy, I went to field med school and learned combat medic skills with the Marines, although I never actually saw combat. I also worked in the pharmacy, medical records, and in an immunization clinic. The highlight of my Navy career was being deployed aboard The USNS Comfort (The big hospital ship).

Some things I enjoy doing are learning about space, playing guitar, playing video games, and going to the beach.

One as a phlebotomist, and the other as an Emergency Room Technician. I love to hunt, fish, or do anything outdoors when I'm not working or at school.

Hello! My name is Samantha Chester, but everyone calls me Sam! I'm taking BIO 152 as a prerequisite for the nursing program. I have a 8 year old son named Ryder and we have a pit bull named Doug. I work full time as an RMA at an OBGYN office in town and my goal is to be a labor and delivery nurse! Hello! My name is Debbie Crenno. I graduated from Reeths-Puffer High School in 2020. This year, I duel enrolling this year at both MCC and GVSU. I am currently a server at Texas Roadhouse.
Some hobbies of mine include, paddle-boarding, swimming, and hanging out with friends.
I plan to pursue sonography at GVSU this Spring! By taking BIOL-152 I will have completed a stepping stone that is needed for my future career.

My name is Jamie DeCheney. I am from Muskegon and have lived here my whole life. I have a huge heart and really enjoy helping people. I am studying to become an RN.

I enjoy having my huge family around me, spending time at the beach, golfing, studying, just about anything outside.

I have worked in nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living centers, and even a few palliative care assignments. I enjoy all of it but would really enjoy the fast paced atmosphere in an ER or on a med/surg unit.

I am looking forward to learning as much as I can in order to effectively help my patients in the future.
