When they told me we were going to get two weeks off of school on March 13th, 2020, I was super excited. Once those two weeks passed and I got the email I would have to do online school until April I was upset but not as upset as I would get to be throughout the experience. As the days went on doing what I hated, virtual learning, I saw how the world was collapsing over a virus. A virus that was just as deadly as the flu, maybe even less. It made me realize how our world could go into such panic over something the media liked to exaggerate. Over time I got tired of staying at home and missed my friends so much. This made me realize that school is my happy place. All my favorite people conversations and laughing with me all at the same time. I missed it and was so glad that they were going to open school again this year. Seeing my friends again made me so happy I can’t even describe it. Never again will I be happy about not having school. I had to cancel two events I was really looking forward to last year. One was a family trip that we take every year to Dominican Republic. We love to visit the Caribbean over the summer. The beaches there are absolutely beautiful and the food is to die for. We have a beach house there where everyday is a new adventure for us. I was so excited to go horseback riding and swim with dolphins so I was devastated that we couldn’t go. Thank god we are going this year. The other event I couldn’t wait for was my friend Matthew’s Bar Mitzvah. I even picked out what I was going to wear. I was thrilled to be with all my friends partying and dancing where we all looked amazing. I wanted to take pictures to remember that night but a month before it was supposed to be we were put in quarantine. Thankfully, I will be having a quinces. It is a tradition for hispanic families to celebrate their daughters' 15th birthdays. They are celebrated either with a party or traveling. I am going to be having a ginormous party as planned on January 22, 2022 with 150 people! I will not allow this event to be canceled. In 2022, that summer, I will be going to Italy with my cousin also as a 15th birthday present.

In all honesty, after this pandemic, my life has gotten ten times better. I’ve lost all the people who weren’t even really my friends and made new ones that are so much better. I got into a relationship with my favorite person in the whole world. I became much closer with my parents and my sister. I had the opportunity of becoming an aunt to one of the cutest little things in the whole world. I grew stronger mentally and physically where I learned to love myself and understand that if people don’t understand me it’s not my problem but theirs instead. That I don’t have to change my personality for anyone to like me because the way I am is already amazing enough. I’m starting to workout and eat healthy and am already seeing changes which is what I strive for. I joined cheer and lacrosse and a cross-fit class. At the moment, I am so happy with the way life is going. I am appreciating the things I have in life more and more every single day. I’ve learned to love and hate at the right times and for the right reasons. The only downside this pandemic has brought to me was some restrictions such as the events and things I used to do in my spare time.
