A moment that was important for me during the lesson was at the beginning of the class when the teacher encouraged children to become part of the class through the "Hello song" and made them stand up and move their body singing the song "If you are happy and you know it". I realized how important is love and patience to be able to teach to very young children. At first, they were kind of shy. However, after singing and dancing, they became much more confident and the environment in the classroom changed a lot.

What do you find useful of this lesson that will help you plan the next one?

This lesson was really useful because I realized how important is to prepare several activities for children because they are really active, curious and show enthusiasm for learning, so they get distracted easily. They like songs, chants and activities that make them part of their learning.

Describe this lesson in terms of a metaphor

I chose this butterfly as a metaphor to describe this lesson because learning to become a reflective practitioner is like being one. Although we have lived different experiences, we need to be able to develop a new thinking to teach children, and that requires change, same as metamorphosis. This will help us to develop a new advanced state. In case of the butterfly, it will learn to fly and in case of teachers, we will develop a professional understanding of children.

In general, this lesson was important for me, because it was my very first time in front of young children and although it was an assistantship, I realized how important is to be prepare because we are not only teaching content, but also, we are working with kids that may have other kind of necessities.

What aspects of the lesson do you consider successful?

An aspect of this lesson that I consider successful was the routine because children reviewed previous content taking into account their environment and all the materials that surrounded them. For example, the teacher made them look out of the window and asked them "What's the weather like?" and children answered "Sunny, cloudy, etc." Also, she worked with flashcards and asked them "What color is this?" or "Is he happy, sad, angry?" trying to make them remember about

content that had been seen previously.

There was a situation where one of the children felt frustrated because he did not remember how to say "sunny", so the teacher told him that he was able to do it and all his classmates supported him. As soon as he realized this, he felt much better than before, and was able to say it.

In the following picture, children were working with some photocopies dealing with animals. As it can be seen, they were sitting really close to the teacher and doing the activity. They asked her some questions and she was able to guide them through their learning.

What aspects of the lesson require change / improvement?

In my opinion, some aspects of the lesson that may require change or improvement may be the writing activity because some of the children could not write very well and as far as I could see, they found this activity kind of challenging. I would have done it in an easier way such as painting or matching with arrows.

In this lesson, the teacher chose this video to encourage children into the family's topic. She showed them this "Baby shark" video and children were able to recognize different family vocabulary words. It was a really enriching activity.

What aspects of the lesson do you consider successful?

I considered this lesson a success because children danced and enjoyed it. They learnt new vocabulary about the topic through different strategies such as rhythm, dancing and singing.

"If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way the child can learn". In this lesson, children could not understand an activity about animals where they had to join them, so we decided to make noises for them to recognize animals. This activity was much better because kids could recognize animals in a much easier way than before.

What do you find useful of this lesson that will help you plan the next one?

I found this last lesson really useful because I realize how important is to think as if we were children and to be able to change activities if it is necessary for them to feel comfortable.

How did the students react to your teaching, to the activities and the materials? How did they react to the lesson?

This was my first class and one of my favourite's. It was focused in "jobs" and many strategies were used, such as songs, photocopies, the guitar and jobs' costumes. Children really enjoyed the class. At the beginning of it, they were kind of shy but as time passed by, they got more confident and started singing and playing with me. They loved the "mistery box" and getting dressed.

This was a final photo we decided to take and as you can see, children were really happy and grateful. It was a great experience!

What teaching strategies did you use? Which ones were effective? Why / why not?

In the previous lesson, I realized that it had lacked context, so I decided to prepare a more didactic activity. I created a puppet and a doll house to work with the part of the house. This was the class that children enjoyed most. They loved working with recycled materials and building staff for the house.

What aspects of the lesson require change / improvement?

An aspect that needed improvement in this class was the time that kids used to build staff for the house. That should have been better controlled. I took it into account for the next class.

What aspects of the lesson do you consider successful?

The beginning of this lesson was a success due to the fact that children laugh a lot as I entered to the classroom wearing different clothes and they had to guess what the weather was like. They told me things such as "cold, hot, windy, rainy, etc". Also, they liked participating in front of the class with "Mr Thermometer."

To encourage children to the class's topic, I show them a video about the weather which they sang and watched really carefully. They really enjoyed it.

This lesson was about clothes, so I was able to relate it with the previous class. I worked with storytelling and art. They really liked this class, and it was really emotional because it was the last one. They hugged me and said they had really liked all classes. I felt kind of sad but happy at the same time because I realized I had done a great job.

Children loved working with fabrics and creating clots. That was their favorite activity.
