I thought this quote was a very simple way of Macbeth expressing his emotions as he deteriorates towards the end of this play. He also says this after he sees the second set of prophecies from the three witches which may have disoriented his perception and he has just heard from Lennox that his trusted peer Macduff fled to England.

3 instances:
1) I walked up to my mom last week once I came home from school and said the quote without any context. She gave me a very confused look and asked me where it was from. I told her it was in the Macbeth play by Shakespeare and then explained what it had meant.
2) During passing period on Thursday last week, I was talking to my friend about my grades in school for my 12 week reports. Then I started talking about upcoming things in my English class such as this project. I then said my quote to my friend who laughed and shared her quote with me and we both explained the context of our quotes.
3) On Saturday afternoon I walked into my younger brother's room and found him sleeping on his bed. I then proceeded to re-enact my quote to annoy him and he rolled over to face me and just gave me an angry look and then went back to sleep wondering why I would speak like that.

This quote of Macbeth acting on spontaneous thoughts can be seen in the Disney film Finding Dory in which the main character Dory acts on impulse since she has short term memory loss. She sees the world with new eyes because of this and ends up in crazy, adventurous, and perilous situations. In the movie, she travels with friends Marlin and son Nemo to find her family after helping Marlin find his. Along the way to finding her parents, Dory encounters many flashbacks to her childhood (similar to the prophecies of Macbeth), meets new friends, runs into old ones, and eventually overcomes her fear of memory loss when she finds her parents. Her mental unstable nature and unawareness of surroundings makes this character similar to that of Macbeth in terms of my chosen quote.

Not only does this quote illustrate the deep troubles and internal insecurities of Macbeth and his deteriorating psychological mindset, but it plays a part in the downfall of Macbeth himself, while revealing the fundamental parts of human nature that every single person battles daily. Macbeth was born good, but acted on ambition, which turned to greed and malice. By the end of the play Macbeth has lost his sense of direction in command and finds the prophecies to be more complex than he previously imagined. His lack of control physically and mentally became his downfall and his kingdom's.

1) This quote on acting on first thought is related to a newspaper on mental illness in which personality disorders and impulse control disorders are more prevalent in society, but are still overlooked by most people. This is true for Macbeth when he goes crazy over Banquo's ghost and Lady Macbeth dismisses his lapse as a "custom" of sorts.
2) This newspaper article detailing the way that Donald Trump campaigned and came to power as the President last week is similar to my quote because Donald Trump is a man who many people view as unfit for power, crazy, says whatever he wants, and is corrupt. These are all traits that led Macbeth to announce his will to say or do what comes to his mind without a second thought.
3) This newspaper describes Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump as examples today of deteriorating human nature with scandals, racism, and not taking responsibility for wrongdoings. This impacts our country's future and many people have a lot to say about these two candidates' positive and negative aspects. This is similar to my quote in which Macbeth is a well known tyrant who refuses to take responsibility for his actions and has no moral character by the end of the play. Macbeth is clouded by his own mind that he falls into the greed and ambition of human folly
