Gabby Douglas started gymnastics at the age of 6. Gabby Douglas was a fast learner so 2 years has passed and she was ready to go to a gym that has higher levels and competes. When she first started at the new gym she made lots of friends. But once everyone started to notice she was actually really good at gymnastics they started being mean to her including the coach. When it came to comeptions she was in 10th place 16th place. One day at comeptions she got in 4th.  luckily a great coach Liang Chow came from Iowa to Virgina Beach to find some tealented gymnast. Gabby Douglas was brave enough to tryout in front of Liang Chow. Liang Chow was impressed with Gabby and asked her if she could come with him to Iowa. So when Gabby wenthome she begged her mom but her mom said no. Soon, George’s parents sent him away to St. Mary’s Industrial School for Orphans, there was about 800 orphans there, talking was forbidden during breakfast, lunch and dinner. A guy called ‘Brother Matthias’ would get the boys every Sunday after supper to play baseball, he gave George a position to play and gave him a catchers mitt.. In 1919 a fire destroyed most of St. Mary’s Industrial school, George volunteered to raise money for the school. Babe Ruth invited St. Mary’s band to travel with him and his team, the New York Yankees, on their final road trip of the 1920 season.
