         <title>Interactive Direct Instruction</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I used interactive direct instruction to help students create explanations about the light emitted from spectral tubes so that I could draw connections to Bohr's theory of atomic structures. Atomic structure is a concept that students cannot directly experience.</div><div><br></div><div>The activity was scaffolded to allow for smaller chunks of direct instruction and more time for students to discuss and make meaning for themselves.<br><br>Students created a template in which to record their observations and their wonderings. After each observation students were asked to share and discuss with table teams.<br><br>Eventually, I guided students to two overall questions...</div><ul><li>What causes the light to be different colors for different elements?</li><li>What is happening to the atoms to produce light?</li></ul><div><br></div><div>These allowed us to discuss Bohr's Theory with a purpose.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I am sorry that I didn't collect students samples, as I wasn't thinking about using this as my celebration of learning.&nbsp;However, the conversations that students had were rich and their questions were in line with the overall questions I had hoped to they would achieve. The demos and time for students to think and make connections allowed students to be open to the concept of Bohr's Atomic Structure. </div>]]></description>
