The first thing we did on the trip was board the boat. Then, we started sailing. We saw many dolphins, sea lions, a whale, and many different species of fish. Next, we anchored the boat to start our activities. We all separated into our groups and did our activities. The three groups were fish cam, plankton, and water quality. In my activity we dropped a camera into the ocean and recorded the fish. Later, we checked the footage to see the biodiversity of the species of fish in the ocean. We recorded our data and looked it over. Finally, we started to sail back to the shore.

Our Experiment

Our group was fish cam and what we did was look at the biodiversity of fish that were underwater. The way we were able to record the fish is with a camera on a fishing pole. The camera was connected to a lcd screen but, it unfortunately did not work. When lowered in the water we started with the holdfast which is towards the bottom. The fish there was only some blacksmith. 5 minutes later we pulled the camera to the stype which is the middle. There we saw a school of fish and more blacksmith. Once we were done filming we looked at the footage on a laptop. It was a very fun experiment and we learned a lot about kelp forests biodiversity.
