Exposition: Roseanne believed that all the lies had stopped. She believed that Earl was no longer with any "friends" yet that changed when they began calling her cell phone.
Rising Action:Roseanne found out that Earl’s friend Vickie was engaged and soon to be married to Earl.
Climax: She became upset and ran out of the house so he could be with the other woman. She looked for comfort from a friend who has been able to pick up the pieces before.
Falling Action: She truly was hurt by his actions because she loved him. She decided what would be best for her would be to have distractions to keep her from thinking about him. She found the strength to leave him.
Resolution: She was attending the commencement ceremony and was happy that her family was there to cheer her on. As she was walking to the podium to receive her degree, Earl walked in and waves to her. She simply keeps her chin up and does not acknowledge him. After a little break down she composed herself and walked to her family.

Earl: his character is known as a liar and unfaithful. He didn't care about Roseanne as much as she cared for him, she loved him. If he felt the same he would have never hurt her like he did. He was a coward because he did not directly deal with the situation/ problem, just pushed it under the rug.

Roseanne: She has a hard time with men , they tend to take advantage of her, and her trust. She has dealt with abuse in her relationship both physical and mental, yet she did not leave him. Finally towards she was able to leave Earl, distract herself from the pain she felt in the beginning.

Foreshadowing: Throughout the short story the author uses foreshadowing to lead up to the point were Roseanne will finally leave Earl.
Irony: when the Roseanne starts to mention how karma works. What comes around goes around. Sort of discreetly foreshadowing that possibly Earl will deal with the same or almost the same pain that he put Roseanne.
Dialogue: the thing about Roseanne is that she doesn't talk to many or alot about her feeling to others. She mostly keeps it to herself . The only other person she talks to is Damon who is there to comfort her which ids nice of him after how many times it seems he has been able to do it. It almost seems like she was running from her problems in the beginning because she did not argue with Earl.

Realism: the issue that was portrayed in the short story is completely realistic. So many relationships struggle with being faithful. Leading some to brake off that relationship, meanwhile others decide to continue to stay in the unhealthy relationship, which will only hurt them in the end.
moral issue: It's about the same, because individuals are cutting loose of unhealthy relationships, especially if there is children involved because it will also affect them.

The story does not have enough depth to convey all the issues that come with single parenthood. The story focuses more on why or what may lead some one to choose to be a single parent rather than to continue in an unhealthy relationship.I looked into divorce and how sometimes that is the best option for some families to take, especially for the children's sake, which is unfortunate. The only struggles that she has dealt with in the short story were her emotions clouding her decisions, until she was finally able to over look them and leave him.
