The  Speaker is another kid that has recently gained a smaller brother so  this would be the time that in every home an only child would have to deal with the rough turn in attention since he's not the  only child in the house anymore.
"We named him 'Baby', he had a toothache
He started crying, it sounded like an earthquake."
Of course when a baby is crying in the way that Baby was crying people would go and silence him and that's exactly what happens.

In this lyric you can see that the speaker feels unnoticed and when he says that I got a backyard with nothing in it, i feel that it could be a metaphor. The speaker is saying that he has none of his parents attention for his own. the tone is basically whining since the entire time in the song it revolves around problems with having siblings. After the lyric describing him from calming down his brother this lyric came and made me think of those voodoo dolls and how you would stick pins in it to hurt it.
