Stereotypes only exist because one source (media in this case) can influence hundreds of thousands or even millions of people to place judgements and unfair representations on groups of people. It would be arrogant to state that the media causes all stereotypes but they do have a part in a huge percentage of stereotypical influences. Huge media companies especially the likes of news networks and individuals such as the Kardashians have a significant role in promoting stereotypes as they have an audience in the millions who are tuning in to their gibberish every day assuming terrible racial generalisations against entire groups of people and #BEAUTYLIFEHACKTHATDEFIENTLYDOSENTINVOVLESURGERY. Media only teaches what is right or wrong based on their perspective or when it's to their own benefit (money) which brainwashes people who could therefore pass it onto more people. It's a never ending loop which psychologically speaking is just human nature as many people unfortunately, are sheep and do not let their thoughts exceed what society places on them. This is why sexist values continue to keep Afghani girls from accessing education and racist values keep minorities from basic rights in many countries.
