Tiny has been best friends with Will Grayson for many years. At the beggining of the story, Will describes his best friend with this quote: "Tiny Cooper is not the world's gayest person, and he is not the world's largest person, but I believe he may be the world's largest person who is really, really gay, and also the world's gayest person who is really, really large".  So, Tiny is physically very large and huge but he also has a very strong personality. He is confident, loud, creative, talented, artistic and smart. He also seems to be the center of everything, he loves having all the attention and no matter what he does, people always love him. From the beggining of the story, we can understand that Tiny has lots of relationships with many different boys. He is a hopeless romantic and he seems to fall in love with every boy he meets, or crosses with. He is constantely announcing that he is in love with a new boy. So, throughout the story his biggest struggle is not falling love with every boy he sees. Later in the novel, Tiny meets the will grayson, who also happens to be gay. He is also a high school student, living in Chicago. Will narrates his story all in lowercase letters. From the begging, we can understand that will struggles with depression and possibly another mental illness. He is constantely talking about how terrible his life is and how he wants to kill himself. Will lives with his mother, who he feels sorry for. He avoids talking to his mom even though she cares about him. They also struggle with money. Will has three friends at school, Maura, who has a bug crush on him and Simon and Derek, the people who he hangs out at lunch with. He hardly has any friends, but he also does not seem to want any. He quotes "if i had actual friends that i felt i could talk to, this might cause some conflict. but since right now there'd only need to be one car to take people to my funeral, i think it's okay." However, we discover that there is a person who he loves to talk to: Isaac, his online "buddy" who lives in Ohio. Will has never met him before, but as we read the story we can understand that he is in love with him. When will gets the opportunity to meet Isaac, he is let down and he realises he has fallen in love with a person who does not exist. We discover that Isaac is actually Maura and so he is completely devastated. But, this leads him to meet the other Will Grayson and Tiny Cooper, who becomes his boyfriend. After meeting Tiny, will comes out to his mom and to his friends at school. Will struggles with Tiny, because he feels like he is constantly being overshadowed by him and his strong personality. Through Tiny, Will also meets Jane Turner, a girl who has a crush on him. Will Grayson does not have many friends and he does not show much emotion. He is terrified of getting hurt and does not let himself care too much. At the beggining of the story he quotes "Tiny thinks that I am incapable of what humans call emotion because I have not cried since my seventh birthday, when I saw the movie All Dogs Go to Heaven. I suppose I should have known from the title that it wouldn't end merrily, but in my defense, I was seven. Anyway, I haven't cried since then. I don't really understand the point of crying. Also, I feel that crying is almost—like, aside from deaths of relatives or whatever—totally avoidable if you follow two very simple rules: 1. Don't care too much. 2. Shut up. Everything unfortunate that has ever happened to me has stemmed from failure to follow one of the rules." He always follows his  philosophy. Throughout the story, Will struggles with his friendship with Tiny and with his feelings for Jane. He then meets the other will grayson, who becomes his friends and helps him sort out his problems. Despite of that, Will is very charismatic, funny and amusing. He entertains the readers by making funny comments and jokes.
