Be aware of prices

Know the regular price for the product you want. Advertising likes to trick you with words such as "suggrested retail price", "comparable value", or "manufactuter's list price" when the price may not be reduced. Also, start comparative shopping. Thhis means you shop at serveral stores to compare the quality and price for the same product. There ar emany price comparison tools online to help you

Understand sale terminology

Sale means that goods are offered for sale, but not necessarily at reduced prices. Clearance means the merchants wants to clear out all the advertised products, but not necessarily at reduced prices. Liquidation means the merchant wants to sell immediately to turn inventory into cash. Prices may not be reduced either

Avoid impulse buying. Wait a day for major purchases

What you want may be uncessary and expensive. If you really want it, wait until the price has been lowered.

Compute unit prices and total cost

Buying things in bulk may be a better buy for your buck.

Read labels and check containers

Read labels carefully. Know what ingredients and what thehy mean. Check the labels on your clothes. Read the terms and agreements. Understand what you're getting yourself into. Check packages or containers to see if they have been opened or damaged. Potentially harmful sbstances can be on these damaged packages and you need to report this to the store manager.

Be loyal

Visit business with good reputations frequently. Some memberships to these businesses can reduce prices.

Check up on businesses. Stay informed

Check for valid certifications, licesnses, and edorsements. Use yoru local Better Business Bureau and state records divisions to be sure you getting the best service you can get.

Read warranties and guarantees. Understand the instructions to the product you buy. Analyze advertisements. Inform consumer protection agencies so you can help other people as well.

Redress us a remedt to a problem. As a consumer you have the right to expect a business to work with you to resolve the problem. You might get your money back, or get it repaired, or some other compensation. Here's how to go about this situation.

Take the product back to the store where you bought it. Calmly explain what happened, be specific and give evidence. Retain all warranties, sale receipts, and related material. Be firm, but not angry. Say you are dissatified and why.

If you are not satisfied with the remedy write a complain to the store's owner. If you are still not satisfied, go to the manufacturer or distributor and state your complaint. Describe what happened to you before and why you were dissatisfied with everything else.

As a last resort, seek legal recourse. For small cases the sums are usually $2,000-$5,000. Small claim courts are a much faster process and less expensive because attorneys are not required. You must pay filing feww and appear to court on date.
