Hear and share their stories, be humble, volunteer or donate to non profit organizations that supports indigenous communities, understand their struggles,  and let their voices be heard.

Recognition. As stated in our reading, Walia mentions how recognizing myself as a non-native who has benefited from the illegal settlement and he appropriation of Indigenous peoples' resources, I can begin the process of solidarity within the Indigenous peoples' community. By recognizing this truth, it opens up the door for dialogue and positive relationships between natives and non-natives. Accepting this truth is a necessary step in the process of decolonization.

 It’s a work that belongs to all of us, to think about our relationships with land, to embrace our responsibility and to oppose faults rather than accepting them, make us walk on the path of equality and our responsibility of addressing inequality through communication which helps us to treat the natives and non-natives justly.

I came to the realization that I can participate in the decolonization movement. I can support and stand by the people who have lost everything, who have had their identity, beliefs and the way of life stolen from them. I have a voice and can stand up for people who have had theirs lost. This is not to say just accept what has happened but to take responsibility and fight for equality and for us to be as one. As I continue to learn what has happened to the indigenous people, it hurts my heart that they were ever treated like this. The land and way of life was stolen from them. Its time for us to make a change, and continue fighting for them.

The actions that I can take to be a part of decolonization are increasing my knowledge about indigenous history, respecting the land we live in, acknowledge indigenous knowledge and work, building long-term trustworthy relationships with the people, helping people to raise their voices against discrimination. Also, it requires our commitment. Actively engaging in conversations with the indigenous people is also an action that I need to take. We should not consider anyone superior or inferior and should focus on aspect of equality in order to take part in decolonization.

Doing my own research and listen to Natives speak on their experiences will be very informal and allowing me to be an ally for these minority groups.
