         <description><![CDATA[<div>During the 1670s the empire started to weaken, after a revolt by the Pashtuns caused it to lose control over present-day Afghanistan. The death of Aurangzeb in 1707 led to increased rebellions, power struggles, and threats from neighboring kingdoms. After that the empire slowly broke into small territories and started to crumble.<br><br>In 1739, the Persian King Nadir Shah invaded India and defeated the Mughal army under Emperor Muhammad Shah. The Mughal emperor was forced to surrender to the Persians, who based themselves in Delhi and took all its treasures.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Following the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, a Delhi Durbar was held in 1903 in honor of the crowning of King Edward VII(1841–1910) as the new emperor of India. A temporary tent city and railway were built for the event, which included two weeks of festivities, including fireworks, exhibitions, dances, parades, and banquets.<br><br>The Great Game finally ended with the signing of the Anglo-Russian Convention in 1907. Under this agreement, Britain agreed to stay out of northern Persia, and Russia promised to stay away from Tibet, Afghanistan, and southern Persia.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
