I want to use the google map mind map when having my seniors develop their future memoirs. Honoring the places that are significant to them in the past and present, and then thinking about where they want to be will add the extra layer of making their memoirs come alive in the setting aspect.

This would be an interesting follow-up for the unit on the poem "Written By Himself" by Gregory Pardlo, which refers repeatedly to the place where the poet was born.

I usually ask students to write poems with a similar format, saying "I was born" at the beginning of the lines.

We could then make a padlet with the place on maps, including their photos if they have, and video or written descriptions/stories of the places they would like to talk about.

I would not require that they talk about any one particular place, but rather choose places that feel significant to them.

I would like to integrate the concept maps in one of my students' final projects where they write a collection of vignettes. I think it would be cool to have them map out their writing about personal experiences they've had in relation to place

Students write "Immigrant Narratives" to honor someone in their lives/community, and I'm really excited to use these mapping tools to support 'preliminary' descriptive writing (of family/ancestry hometowns in other countries). Also considering an alternative "Memory Map" option for final product (usually is a photobook).

I would use it to have students look at places on google maps and them write about them: Important places in their lives or where they want to go in the world.

I'd love to use the maps in our study of Julie Otsuka's When the Emperor Was Divine, particularly in indicating how remote internment camps for Japanese-Americans were from the communities in which they had lived.

I have my students create Life Maps, and I would like to have them create this on Padlet using actual maps.

I would also use this feature when teaching Randa Abdel-Fattah's Where the Streets Had a Name.
