-Surah Ar-Rahman is considered to be one of the most powerful and benefial Surah in the Holy Quran

-Setting the right niyyah

• we should perform worship purely and sincerely for the sake of Allah. Intention is the same resolve. When a person is sincere, he will deny having other mazmumah traits

-Focus and take notes

• always pay attention to the knowledge being conveyed so as not to miss out during the learning session

• take notes while listening, but also make your own notes on the readings given or additional material explained in the lecture

While we were one day sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), there appeared before us a man dressed in extremely white clothes and with very black hair. No traces of journeying were visible on him, and none of us knew him. He sat down close by the Prophet (peace be upon him), rested his knee against his thighs, and said, "O Muhammad! Inform me about Islam."

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Islam is that you should testify that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, that you should perform salah, pay the Zakah, fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj to the House, if you are able to do so."

The man said, "You have spoken truly." We were astonished at his questioning him (the Messenger) and telling him that he was right, but he went on to say, "Inform me about iman."

He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, "It is that you believe in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers and in the Last Day, and in qadar (fate), both in its good and in its evil aspects." He said, "You have spoken truly."

Then he (the man) said, "Inform me about Ihsan." He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, "It is that you should serve Allah as though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet (know that) He sees you."

He said, "Inform me about the Hour." He (the Messenger of Allah) said, "About that, the one questioned knows no more than the questioner." So he said, "Well, inform me about the signs thereof." He said, "They are that the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress, that you will see the barefooted, naked, destitute, the herdsmen of the sheep (competing with each other) in raising lofty buildings." Thereupon the man went of. I waited a while, and then he (the Messenger of Allah) said, "O Umar, do you know who that questioner was?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know better." He said, "That was Jibril (the Angel Gabriel). He came to teach you your religion."

-The Conditions of the Testimony of Faith means believing firmly in His existence, Lordship and Divinity, and in His Names and Attributes

-Four things necessary for achieving belief in Allah :

• Belief in the existence of Allah

• Belief in the Lordship of Allah 

• Belief in His Divinity

• Belief in His Names and Attributes

  2. Belief in Angels

  • Angels are created from light and perform specific tasks

  • They are obedient to Allah and help in maintaining order in the universe

  • They also make supplications for believers, especially during good deeds like prayers and attending knowledge circles

  • We must emulate the obedience of angles to Allah and always glorify Him

  3. Belief in The Book

  -The Books that Allah has mentioned by name, we must believe in by name. These are the Books which Allah has named in the Quran :

  • the Quran (Nabi Muhammad SAW)

  • the Tawrat (Nabi Musa a.s)

  • the Injil (Nabi Isa a.s)

  • the Zabur (Nabi Daud a.s)

• Guiding humanity from the worship of created beings to worship Allah SWT as their Creator

• Clarifying to humanity the purpose of creation: worshipping God and obeying Hs commands

• Establishing proof against humanity by sending prophets, so people will not have an excuse when they will be questioned on the Day of Judgement

2. Belief in Qada' and Qadar

-The Meaning of Qada' and Qadar

• "Qada'a and Qadar" is to believe that Allah knew everything before it came into being, and what will happen to it afterward. He then brought them into existence, all in accordance to His perfect knowledge and measure. Allah says:

Verily, We have created all things with Qadar. [54:49]

• Everything which occurred in the past, that which is occurring in the present and what will occur in the future is known to Allah before it came into existence. Allah then brought it into being, all in accordance to His Will and Measure. The Messenger of Allah said:

“A person is not a Muslim until he believes in Qadar, its good and its evil consequences – until he knows that whatever happened to him would have never missed him, and what did not happen to him would never have occurred.” [Tirmidhi]

-The Merits of Belief in Qada´ and Qadar

• One strengthens his dependence upon Allah (in achieving results) after fulfilling their means

• One becomes pleased with whatever results are realized, which in turn produces peace of heart and spiritual comfort

• It increases one’s reward and effaces his sins

• The Day of Judgement in Islam is the day when all individuals are resurrected from their graves to stand before Allah for judgment

• Every person’s deeds, intentions, and actions will be evaluated, determining whether they are worthy of eternal bliss in paradise or will face punishment in hell

• Every soul will taste death, but this is not the end. Death is a transition to the hereafter

• The Day of Judgement symbolizes a new beginning, with eternal consequences

• Respect and Obedience: Always show respect and speak kindly to your parents. Obey them in all matters that are not against Islamic teachings

• Care and Compassion: Take care of them, especially as they grow older. Islam teaches that serving your parents is a noble act

• Gratitude: Be thankful for their efforts in raising and supporting you. Always make dua (prayers) for them, asking Allah to bless them

• Avoid Disrespect: Never raise your voice or argue with them, and be patient, even if you disagree

2. Based on The Story of Nabi Ibrahim

• The language style used by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) is very simple, namely by using the word: يَا أَبَتِ Imam al-Syac (RA) gave the reason why Prophet Ibrahim a.s used that word and did not use the word: يَا أَبِي . He said that the word: has a deeper insight when compared to the word: . Prophet Ibrahim a.s wanted to say that although Azar was a father, in his love it seemed to have two loves, namely the love of a father and a mother.

• The use of questions by Prophet Ibrahim a.s was none other than so that his father would not feel inferior or that Prophet Ibrahim a.s wanted to show his superiority and greatness (al-Syacrawi. This careful situation and debate can be seen in the words of Prophet Ibrahim a.s who did not directly ask about the nature of his father's worship by saying:

  "Why does you worship Satan..?", but Prophet Ibrahim ended the fact and replaced it with the characteristics and attributes while also expressing the nature of his worship, namely: ".. something that does not hear, does not see and cannot help you in the slightest?"

  With that, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) stated to his father that the worship was not worthy of being worshipped because it had characteristics that were not worthy of being worshipped, namely not hearing, not seeing and not being able to help.

• Prophet Ibrahim a.s invited his father to Islam politely and softly through the beginning of the kalam by repeating the words: يَا أَبَتِ Prophet Ibrahim AS also did not say that his father was a fool or called himself a wise man. Prophet Ibrahim AS said to his father: What he meant was: "O my father, indeed, some knowledge has come to me that has not come to you, so follow me, I will surely show you the straight path."

• However, the impact and results of Prophet Ibrahim's preaching were not as desired. His invitation using these methods did not get satisfactory results, and his father even cursed and threatened Prophet Ibrahim AS by saying: His father said: "Do you hate my gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you and leave me for a long time" (al-Quran, Maryam 19:46)

• Responding with the best answer

  After getting a harsh answer and attitude from his father, Prophet Ibrahim a.s did not say anything except with words of farewell and peace, namely:

  Ibrahim said: "May peace be upon you" (al-Qur'an, Maryam 19: 47).

  After responding with a good answer, Prophet Ibrahim continued with a promise to ask for forgiveness for his father. Prophet Ibrahim a.s said:

  "I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. Indeed, He is very good to me" (al-Qur'an, Maryam 19: 47).

• Then Prophet Ibrahim promised to separate himself from his father and his worship, and prayed to God that he would not feel any loss for his prayer. Prophet Ibrahim said: "And I will distance myself from you and from what your father calls upon besides Allah, and I will call upon my Lord, I hope that I will not be disappointed in calling upon my Lord" (al-Quran, Maryam 19: 48). This separation also shows that Prophet Ibrahim was no longer able to invite his father to monotheism. Prophet Ibrahim was pleased with what his father had decided, however, this did not prevent him from continuing to do good to his father.

• Summary of the story :

The story of Prophet Ibrahim's da'wah towards his father Azar has various wisdoms and lessons, among them, the da'wah movement must be started towards the closest relatives, as he did. Da'wah towards his father continued to be carried out until his father disbelieved and died in a state of disbelief in Allah. This is because guidance belongs entirely to Allah and as a servant. In addition, the method used by Prophet Ibrahim AS to his father was through the method of mujadalah husna or through dialogue in a good way. Among them, using an easy to understand method, accompanied by rational reasons, being humble, showing love by forbidding his father to obey the devil, talking about his worries and fears for his father from being punished by Allah SWT, answering with the best answer, asking for forgiveness and the last method is to separate or migrate to avoid continuing to encounter points of difference and fights.

What is Niyyah ?

• Niyyah refers to the intention or motive behind the act, which is to attain Allah’s reward and draw oneself closer to the Almighty

Benefit

• It helps distinguish between different acts of worship

• Helps one differentiate between the acts that are solely performed for the sake of Allah

Tips to ensure that their Niyyah is correct

2. Sawn (fasting)

• Fasting is called shayam or shaum means to hold back

• By fasting, believers are forbidden from eating and drinking because they want gain great benefits from the prohibition

• People who believe can control their desires by carrying out the commands of Allah

3. Zakat

• Take zakat from some of their property, with that zakat you clean and sanctify them and pray for them

• Zakat is not just a financial obligation, but an act of worship that cleanses the human heart from stinginess, greed, and love of the world.

• Purifies the wealth itself from elements of doubt

4. Hajj

• The “month of pilgrimage” mentioned are Shawwal, Dul-Qa’dah, and at the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. It is during this time that the rituals of the pilgrimage are performed. This emphasis shows that the pilgrimage is not a simply a ritual on the Day of Arafah or the Feast of Aidiladha

• The three main prohibitions of Hajj:

  - Rafath

  - Fusuq

  - Jidal

• Hajj is an act worship that requireq thought, patience, and deep awareness, not just following along

Preparation before Salah

1. Taharah (Purification):

• Wudu’ (Ablution) is required for the validity of prayer - all parts of the body involved in wudu’ must be properly clean

• If unable to use water (due to illness or travel), we may perform tayammum (dry ablution)

2. Clothing & Place:

• Must be clean from impurities (najis), and cover the ‘awrah (modesty) properly

3. Intention and Timing:

• Be sincere for the sake of Allah and perform the prayer at its presrcibed (early) time

The Pillars of Prayer:

• The physical pillars (Rukun Fi'li)

• The verbal pillars (Rukun Qauli)

The Conditions of Payer:

• The conditions that make prayer obligatory

• The conditions for a valid prayer

Ways to Achieve Khusyu' in Salah:

• Pray with sincerity

• Minimize worldly attachments

• Understand the meaning of the recitation

• Find a quite place

• Pray as if it's your last day in this world

• Pray slowly and don't rush through your prayer

• Wear clean clothes

• Take ablution perfectly

By observing prayer both outwardly and inwardly, we not only fulfill an act of worship, but also nurture a peaceful heart, good character, and a soul that submits to Allah.

• Not just physical fighting, it means striving to obey Allah

• Includes inner struggle (Jihad an-Nafs) to overcome desires and stay obedient to Allah

• Examples: Performing salah with full focus leads to forgiveness

2. 'Iffah (Modesty/Self-Restraint)

• Staying away from sins in thoughts, speech, and actions

• Sign of Taqwa

• Builds dignity, self-control, and inner strength

• Examples: Lowering gaze, dressing modesty, avoiding gossip

3. Muhasabah (Self-Reflection)

• Checking your intensions and actions before, during, and after salah

• Helps improve sincerity, focus, and quality of worship

• Includes gratitude, repentance, and intention to improve

4. Al-Ta'ah (Obedience)

• Means submitting to Allah's commands

• Salah builds loyalty and submission to Allah

5. Tawaddu' (Humility)

• Feeling small before Allah's greatness

• Helps soften the heart and encourages repentance

• Essential for khusyu', true focus, and humility in prayer

• Leads to spiritual growth and a stronger connection with Allah

1. Helps in drawing closer to Allah

• Recite and reflect on the Quran (night and day) and attend Taraweeh prayers

2. Helping in acquiring patience and strong will

• Allah has mentioned patience - 70 times

• When one fasts, and gives up one's food and drink, and one's marital sexual relations for fasting hours, one learn restrain and patience

• Voluntary charity given to help others especially the poor

• Done sincerely for Allah, without expecting anything in return

Virtues of Giving Zakah and Sadakah

1. Tawakkul (Trust in Allah)

   - For the giver: Trusts that giving won't make them poor because Allah will replace it

   - For the receiver: Learns that Allah can send help in unexpected ways

   - Strengthens bonds between the rich and poor

   - Builds compassion, kindness, and equality
