Beyond the nuts and bolts of ground stations, receivers, and satellites, GPS is an excellent platform to build a multidisciplinary unit. The math, science, history and language arts applications abound. These interdisciplinary applications can be tailored to meet any age and ability level. I enjoyed the reading portion this week. It opened my eyes to possible classroom applications I had never considered. I was aware of basic Google Earth processes but digging deeper, it offers many options that demand higher order thinking from students.

I also found it pretty neat how many satellites are in the sky that connect with the ground and then to our devices. There are so many uses for GPS, it's crazy. I am looking forward to learning from my peers' experiences and diving deeper into conversations about the wide uses GPS can bring to the classroom and engage students across the curriculum.
